Job Description
- Ensuring that drilling and well completion operations comply with statutory and regulatory requirements, with respect to health, security and safety and emergency procedures.
- Prepare cost estimates and controls for drilling and completion activities.
- Provide regular reports to the drilling Superintendent on progress of drilling operation.
- Implement and regularly monitor safety measures as well as implement steps for reducing environmental depletion due to drilling operations.
- Liaise with project partners, such as geologists and drilling contractors, etc. in order to keep up-to-date on all developments that may have an impact on drilling activities.
- Familiar with statutory and regulatory requirements, with respect to health and safety and emergency procedures.
- Supervise day-day-rig operations during drilling operations during drilling and completions operations, including deployment of effective solutions for operational continuity, equipment malfunctions and other problems.
- Monitor all drilling operations and consult drilling superintendent on decisions regarding day-to-day drilling activities.
- Implements drilling operations and ensuring timely completion as scheduled.
- Planning, organizing and coordinating drilling operation.
- Provide continuous drilling rigs forward activities forecast and requirements as related to drilling and well completions.
Qualifications and Required Competencies
- Candidates for this position is required to have good knowledge ci well engineering, drilling and to provide support to company's drilling operations the initial design to delivery of a well to production.
- A minimum of Bachelor's of Science Degree in a core Engineering discipline.
- A Master’s Degree in any of the relevant Engineering disciplines will be an added advantage.
- A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in the industry after graduation, ideally in operations and drilling.
- Strong grasp of technical aspects and to keep developing skills and expertise.
- Must be capable of working-seamlessly with geosciences, production and reservoir groups in executing drilling/operations engineering solutions.
- Must be capable to deliver quality, on budget and with speed.
- Good verbal and written communication.
- He must be knowledgeable in drilling and practices.
- A Working knowledge of commonly used and relevant drilling/operations/production management software.
- Must have strong analytical, practical problem solving skills.
- Must have ability to plan and lead projects and must be able to work under pressure by themselves and in teams.
