The American University of Nigeria (AUN) was established in 2003. The
Institution was conceived as Africa's first Development University, and
is in the process of setting up a Faculty of Law. In furtherance of
regulatory requirements, the University invites applications from

Program.
AUN is seeking for a Electrical Engineer. This position is a local one
and opens to indigenous and/or legal residents of Nigeria.

Job Title: Electrical Engineer
Location: Adamawa
Department: Facilities Management
Summary of Position
- The Electrical Engineer position will be responsible for
designing, developing, testing and supervising the manufacturing and
installation of electrical equipment, components, or systems for
commercial, industrial or scientific use and also be able to handle
MV/LV control panels at source voltages of 415KV AND 11KV respectively.
- The duties shall include but not limited to the oversight,
troubleshooting, maintenance and operation of generator synchronization
panels, busbars, automatic power distribution/transfer switches,
transmitting signal voltage at 415 and 11KV, both underground and
overhead lines and the ability to use distribution transformers in
accordance with the university policy and procedure.
- The duties shall also include diagrams, specifications and
instructions for construction of power services to new buildings,
additions and other campus requirements.
Detailed Listing of Responsibilities
- Design, implement, maintain, and improve power networks, equipment, facilities, components, products and systems
- Operate computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.
- Handle MV/ LV control panels which are at source voltages both 415V and 11KV.
- Direct and coordinate manufacturing construction, installation,
maintenance, support, documentation, and testing activities to ensure
compliance with specifications, codes and requirements.
- Perform detailed calculations to compute and establish
manufacturing, construction, and installation standards and
specifications.
- Inspect completed installations and observe operations, to
ensure conformance to design and equipment specifications and compliance
with operational and safety standard.
- Prepare specifications for purchase of materials and equipment.
- Supervise and train project team members as necessary.
- Investigate and test vendors and competitor's products.
- Oversee project production efforts to assure projects are completed satisfactorily on time and within budget.
- Prepare and study technical drawings, specifications of
electrical systems and topographical maps to ensure that installation
and operations conform to standards and customer requirements.
- Plan layout of electric power generating plants and distribution lines and stations.
- Assist in developing capital project programs for new equipment and major repairs.
- Develop budgets, estimate labor, material, and construction costs.
- Conduct field surveys and study maps, graphs, diagrams, and other data to identify and correct power system problems.
- Keep up-to date technically and applying new knowledge to your job.
- Trouble shooting - Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.
- Determine the kind of tools and equipment need to do a job.
- Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare financial statements including monthly and annual accounts
- Continuous management and support of budget and forecast activities
- Monitors and support taxation issues
- Develops and maintains financial databases
- Financial audit preparation and coordinate the audit process
- Ensures accurate and appropriate recording and analysis of revenues and expenses
- Analyzes and advises on business operations including revenue and expenditure trends, financial commitments and future revenues
- Analyzes financial information to recommend or develop efficient
use of resources and procedures, provide strategic recommendations and
maintain solutions to business and financial problems
- Assist the Chief Financial Officer in managing other staff of the Finance division.
- Ensures financial records are maintained in compliance with accepted policies and procedures
- Ensures all financial reporting deadlines are met
- Prepares financial management reports
- Ensures accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end closing
- Establishes and monitor the implementation and maintenance of accounting control procedures
- Resolves accounting discrepancies and irregularities
- Shall perform any other duty as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements for the Position
- A Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering or a similar field from a recognized and reputable tertiary institution.
- Must have Engineering registration / certification/COREN
- Excellent oral and written English communication skills.
- Expert level competence with MS Office package and other relevant applications.
- Proficient with AutoCAD software.
- At least 3 years robust experience with power switches, distribution, automated controls. Experience with solar power desirable.
Other Requirements, Abilities for the position:
- Ability to develop a work schedule, set goals, creates / implements actions plans and monitor progress towards goals.
- Must have knowledge of distribution transformers
- Interpersonal relationship with other colleagues and clients.
- Capacity to train electrical technicians, implement maintenance and repair procedures.
- Must have a knowledge of generator synchronization and
transformer paralleling, with automatic operation between the stand by
and the utility transmitting at 11KV
- Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic
equipment, and computer hardware and software, including application and
programming.
Job Title: Senior Director Financial Operations
Location: Adamawa
Department: Facilities Management
Summary of Position
- The Senior Director is responsible for applying accounting
principles and procedures to analyze financial information, prepare
accurate and timely financial reports and statements and ensure
appropriate accounting control procedures.
- Also He/She will establish, interpret and analyze complex accounting records of financial statements.
- These may include but not limited to general accounting, costing
or budget data and also, analyzes and interprets accounting records for
management and maintain sufficient funds by forecasting cash
requirements and obligations in accordance with the university's policy
and procedure.

Requirements for the Position
- A combination of the completion of a Bachelor and Master’s
Degree in Accounting, Business Administration or a related discipline
from a recognized tertiary institution.
- Five(5) or more years of accounting experience and fully qualified Chartered Accountant
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in the management of financial
systems and budgets, financial reporting, financial data analysis,
auditing, taxation and providing financial advice
- Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control
principles including International Financial Reporting Standard (IFRS)
- Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations.
- Knowledge of financial and accounting software applications
- Knowledge of accepted accounting practices and principles
- Knowledge of economic principles
- Knowledge of auditing practices and principles
- Knowledge of applicable laws, codes and regulations
- Knowledge and experience of related computer applications
- Possess adequate supervisory skills needed to lead a team efficiently.
