  • In light of the emerging crisis, the scale of SSU support in Nigeria is growing exponentially. It is therefore crucial to recruit a Security Support Assistant whose role will be to assist in the logistic and administrative matters of IOM safety and security policies and assets as well as serve as IOM focal point for the UNHAS helicopter flights in the NE.
  • Under the direct supervision of HoSo Maiduguri /Nigeria, the technical supervision of the Field Security Officer (FSO) in IOM Nigeria, and in close collaboration with program managers the successful candidate will assist on all management matters related to UNHAS booking, SSU operations, and SSU assets in IOM Maiduguri.
Core Functions / Responsibilities
  • Manage UNHAS Helicopter flights bookings including receiving and consolidating booking requests, sharing consolidated request with UNHAS booking focal point,
  • Prepare and share accurate and timely schedule when available with staff and concerned managers. preparing flight cargo requests and clearance. Make and cancelling bookings and prepare monthly database of no show staff.
  • Carry out all administrative matters including manager/assets custodian recording, issuing and tracking of security assets; Support field mission by issuing all the necessary equipment available with SSU custody. And maintain track of it missions.
  • Verify that security administration and mandatory security requirements are complete (mission pre-departure briefings for all hourly staff, travel clearances, ID card, are properly monitored and maintained for future access if required; Page 2 / 3
  • Assist in regularly providing briefings and information sharing by available channels with hourly staff members for all matters related to safety and security, mainly information related to security advisory and instructions;
  • Manage UN ID cards requests for IOM regular staff in coordination with IOM HR and Security Staff in Abuja.
  • Maintain an inventory of all fire safety equipment within the IOM premises with the corresponding expiry date and liaise with the logistics team on maintenance and replenishment/repair/replacement
  • Maintain hourly staff tracking list updates (Daily tracking matrix) regularly updated and shared on daily basis with FSO and Program managers as requested.
  • Maintain the data base of guard force information at all locations and assist in Monitoring the contracted security guards and mobile police.
  • Perform any additional duties as requested.
Required Qualifications and Experience
  • Degree / Certificate in Social Science, Administration, Law Enforcement or certified graduation from military/police academy.
  • Minimum Two years of relevant experience in UN, INGOs or 3 years or experience in the relevant fields with Military or police forces;
  • Good political and social knowledge of Northeastern Nigeria.
  • Computer literacy with a high degree of proficiency in commonly used applications such as Word, PowerPoint and Excel is required.
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment with others with diverse professional backgrounds.
  • Training in emergency and disaster response is an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of UN / INGOs security management
  • Experience of using security and communication Equipment including VHF/HF radio system.
Languages:
  • Fluency in English Language; Fluency in Hausa language advantageous;

  • In light of the emerging crisis, the scale of IOM’s response in Nigeria is growing exponentially. It is therefore crucial to recruit a Local Security Assistant whose role will be to assist in the implementation of IOM safety and security policies and guidelines, programs and measures.
  • Under the direct supervision of the Head of Office in Maiduguri/Nigeria, the technical supervision of the Field Security Officer (FSO) for Maiduguri, and in close collaboration with program managers and Field unit focal points in IOM Maiduguri, the successful candidate will assist on all management matters related to staff and property in IOM Maiduguri:
Core Functions / Responsibilities
  • Under the direct supervision of FSO for Maiduguri, assist in the development and implementation of security plans and activities related to the Maiduguri office security.
  • Support the FSO in all tactical, operational and strategic security matters that impact IOM’s staff safety and security and IOM’s operations in Maiduguri.
  • Ensure that security administration activities (travel clearances, UNDSS trip profiles, staff lists, staff compliancy status etc.) are properly maintained and archived for future access when required.
  • Undertake all radio technician responsibilities, designs and updates Call Sign lists, train contracted guards on VHF radios and maintain overall operability of communications systems and issuance and maintenance of radios.
  • Efficiently monitor the local security situation and reports significant events/incidents in a timely manner to the appropriate management/staff using prescribed reporting forms and modalities. Ensure the reports are disseminated in a timely manner to the appropriate IOM staff and offices. Gather, verify and share security information related to IOM operation, staff and assets with security staff unit or as instructed by FSO.
  • Maintain good relationship / liaison and coordination with UNDSS and other local security stakeholders at the appropriate level.
  •  Monitor the contracted security guards and ensures that posts are manned at all times through the guard field supervisor.
  • Control and track SSU assets and, where necessary the issuance and return of those assets. Ensure there is proper maintenance of SSU assets.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications and Experience
  • University degree in social science, law enforcement or certified graduation from military/police academy.
  • At least 2 years’ relevant experience with UN agencies/ UNDSS or other international organization in the field of security or information analysis.
  • Police/ Military Experience is an advantage.
  • Good political and social knowledge of the country in general and NE in specific.
  • Computer literacy with a high degree of proficiency in commonly used applications such as Word, PowerPoint and Excel is required.
  • The ability to work in a multi-cultural environment with others with diverse professional backgrounds is required.
  • The ability to handle a heavy workload efficiently with minimal supervision and understanding the importance of close teamwork is highly regarded. Application Deadline 16th July, 2019.       Job Title: Housekeeper SVN No.: CFCV2019/89 Location: Maiduguri (Banki) Organizational Unit: Humanitarian Hub IOM Classification: Hourly Tier Scale (NGN 1, 000 per hour worked) Type of Appointment: Special Short-Term (Hourly) Contract Estimated Start Date:  As soon as possible Context Under the overall supervision of the Humanitarian Hubs Project Coordinator and direct supervision of the Banki Field hub Supervisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for the provision of housekeeping services for Banki Field hub with specific emphasis to public areas and surroundings in accordance to the performance and quality level standards set by the humanitarian hubs management. He/she will perform the underlisted functions:
  • Be responsible for the cleanliness and upkeep of the assigned office, accommodation premises and common areas in the compound in accordance to the housekeeping service quality requirements of the humanitarian hubs.  Cleaning tasks include but not limited to mopping of floors, dusting, polishing of floors, window washing, vacuuming and garbage.
  • Make up the beds in assigned rooms and replace towels according to the housekeeping standards of the humanitarian hubs.
  • Maintain adequate stocks of cleaning materials, toiletries and other consumables as required.  Check stock levels of consumables and re-stock the toiletries and cleaning supplies as required.
  • Be responsible for the maintenance of the surrounding garden area; including landscaping, watering, fertilizing and maintenance of shrubs and trees as and when required.
  • Inspect status/conditions of plumbing and electrical installations and furniture pieces in the assigned rooms or common areas and report any observed concerns or damages to the Field Hub Supervisor.
  • Observe precautions required to protect hub and guest property, and report damage, theft, and found articles to supervisors.
  • Promptly report to the Field Hub Supervisor any concerns/requests from guests and immediately act on them according to the instructions.
  • Adhere strictly to rules regarding health and safety and observe the standard operating procedures of the humanitarian hubs in addressing them.

Required Qualifications and Experience Education:

Experience:
