Emel Hospital was established in 1988 by Dr. Olufemi Mobolaji-Lawal, a consultant paediatrician. Dr. Mobolaji-Lawal trained as a doctor at the University College Hospital, Ibadan and as a paediatrician in the United Kingdom. Prior to setting Emel Hospital, he worked for some time as consultant paediatrician at Ikeja General Hospital (now Lagos State University Teaching Hospital), Lagos. He is the board chairman and his wife, Dr. (Mrs) Margaret Mobolaji-Lawal is a non-executive director.

The hospital was declared open on the 9th of December 1988 by the then Honorable Minister of Health of Nigeria, Prof. Olikoye Ransome-Kuti. It is the first private hospital in Lagos, Nigeria to be designated “Baby Friendly Hospital” by the Federal Ministry of Health in 1993. We are a well-recognized and foremost pediatric referral centre in Amuwo Odofin area and its environs, as well as providing general medical care and specialist services in obstetrics and gynaecology, internal medicine and various surgical specialities. Our facility is fully computerized and staffed with professionals to deliver excellent primary medical and specialist's services. Job Title: Consultant Pediatrician

Location: Festac Town, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Description
Include, but are not limited to:

  • Patient Examination and Diagnosis:
    • Conduct comprehensive physical examinations of pediatric patients to assess their health and development.
    • Diagnose and treat a wide range of pediatric illnesses, conditions, and injuries.
  • Medical Treatment and Prescriptions:
    • Develop and implement treatment plans for pediatric patients, which may include medications, therapies, and other interventions.
    • Prescribe and administer appropriate medications and treatments for various pediatric conditions.
  • Immunizations and Preventive Care:
    • Administer and advise parents on immunizations and vaccinations to prevent diseases and infections.
    • Provide guidance on preventive care and lifestyle choices to maintain the health and well-being of children.
  • Monitoring Growth and Development:
    • Track and monitor the growth and development of children to identify potential issues or delays.
    • Offer guidance and interventions to address developmental concerns.
  • Pediatric Subspecialty Consultations:
    • Refer patients to pediatric subspecialists when necessary, such as pediatric surgeons, cardiologists, or neurologists, for specialized care.
  • Emergency Care:
    • Be prepared to respond to pediatric medical emergencies, including managing life-threatening situations and providing immediate care.
  • Communication with Patients and Families:
    • Communicate effectively with parents, caregivers, and pediatric patients to explain diagnoses, treatment plans, and answer questions.
    • Offer emotional support and reassurance to families during stressful medical situations.
  • Medical Records and Documentation:
    • Maintain accurate and detailed medical records of each patient's history, examinations, diagnoses, and treatment plans.
  • Continuing Education:
    • Stay current with the latest developments in pediatric medicine, research, and treatments through ongoing education and professional development.
  • Collaboration with Healthcare Team:
    • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including nurses, pediatric nurses, nutritionists, and therapists, to provide comprehensive care for pediatric patients.
  • Research and Teaching:
    • Engage in clinical research, contribute to medical literature, and may also be involved in teaching medical students, residents, or fellows.
  • Quality Improvement:
    • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and safety within the healthcare facility.
  • Adherence to Medical Ethics and Regulations:
    • Follow ethical standards and legal regulations in patient care and maintain patient confidentiality.

Requirements

  • Candidates should possess Bachelor's Degrees with 5 - 10 years relevant work experience.

Salary
N800,000 - N1,000,000 Monthly.
