Job Title: Construction Engineer (Civil & Structural)
Location: Benin, Edo
Job Summary
- This role will be responsible for developing and designing the production infrastructure, ensuring the safety, stability, and durability of structures while adhering to industry codes and standards.
Main Responsibilities
- Develop detailed structural designs for needed production infrastructures e.g. pipelines, storage tanks, etc.
- Perform structural analysis and calculations to ensure the integrity, safety, and compliance of all structures within the production facility with relevant industry standards and codes.
- Conduct site visits to assess existing structures, identify potential issues, and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including architects, mechanical engineers, and project managers, to ensure seamless project execution.
- Monitor project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure a successful and timely completion of engineering projects.
- Effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders to address engineering concerns and provide technical guidance.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate civil and structural design elements into project plans.
- Perform regular inspections during construction to ensure compliance with design specifications and safety standards.
- Stay abreast of local, national, and international building codes, environmental regulations, and industry standards, to ensure the company’s structural designs & projects meet the relevant & acceptable standards.
- Prepare comprehensive engineering reports, design documentation, and technical specifications, and present when called upon.
- Create and maintain accurate records of design changes, project progress, and as-built documentation.
Educational Qualifications and Skills
- BSc. or HND in Civil Engineering or any related field.
- Possesses at least 10 years of proven experience in civil/infrastructure projects with achievements in road projects & other production facilities infrastructure.
- Must possess COREN certification.
- Familiarity with geotechnical engineering, structural analysis, and construction materials.
- Strong project management skills, including project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and risk management, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to develop innovative solutions to engineering challenges.
- Strong mentoring skills and the ability to motivate and inspire team members.
- High attention to detail, focusing on accuracy and quality in engineering designs and project execution, and ability to conduct thorough reviews and audits of engineering work
- Membership in NSE, NICE, or any other relevant professional engineering society is an added advantage
- In-depth knowledge of civil engineering principles, practices, and methodologies related to upstream oil & gas infrastructure.
