Job Title: Health and Nutrition Manager
Location: Ngala, Diwka, Bama - Borno
Starting date: ASAP
Reporting to: International Medical Doctor
Duration: 12 months
Purpose of the Position
- Under the supervision of the International Medical Doctor, s/he will provide professional technical advice on project design, planning, administration, monitoring and evaluation of Nutrition and Health programme/project activities, data analysis and progress reporting, and enhancing teamwork and capacity building.
Responsibilities
Management of the Health and Nutrition Program:
- Participate in the development of health and nutrition sector budgets and following up on their effective implementation.
- Develop health and nutrition sector work plans for all the INTERSOS health and nutrition grants.
- Supervise and coordinate the implementation and monitoring of health and nutrition project activities.
- Conduct health and nutritional surveillance in the programme sites, including host community and internally displaced persons (IDPs) based on agreed methodologies including surveys, process monitoring, SMART, SQUEAC and other rapid methods.
- Work with the field based health and nutrition staff and community health Volunteers to establish, implement and monitor community based management of acute malnutrition activities, coupled
- with patient follow up, referrals and education for their better management at community level.
- Coordinate with other INTERSOS departments and implementing partners to develop training curricula and implementation plans for community Health Volunteers (CHV’s).
- Assist in response and management of any health and nutrition emergency and participate in the development of disaster preparedness systems.
- Promote mother infant and young child feeding best practices in various health facilities.
- Oversee implementation and integration of comprehensive growth monitoring program/Mass MUAC screenings at community level and report accordingly.
- Participate actively in planned programme Rapid Health and Nutrition assessment/surveys.
- Monitoring and supervising both INTERSOS and MOH staff seconded to INTERSOS to ensure work is performed efficiently.
- Routinely monitor staff performance according to their job description and provide written feedback in a timely manner.
- Oversee continuous training programs for the health and nutrition staff.
- Review personnel issues and concerns of health and nutrition staff and assist with determining and implementing solutions.
- Participate in recruitment of health and staff as appropriate.
- Participate in the development of proposals, budgets and concept notes in coordination with the INTERSOS health and nutrition team.
- Supervise the use of materials, equipment and supplies for the intervention.
- Identify opportunities for program development
Requirements
Essential:
- Bachelor’s university degree in one of the disciplines relevant to the following areas: Medicine, Nursing, Public health and Nutrition.
- Five years of relevant professional work experience, including in a developing country, in public health or nutrition
- Background/familiarity with Emergency.
- Good command of written and spoken English, Kanuri and Hausa Languages
- Strong interpersonal and team building skills and excellence as a team player.
- Must possess the ability to learn with speed and ease.
- Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, power point presentation etc.)
- Strong sense of responsibility, methodical and accurate with high organizational skills
- Honesty and integrity and able to cope with stressful situations.
- Manages effectively his own time as well as flexible and available to work over time when needed
- Willing to be deployed to the newly liberated local government areas.
Desired:
- Prior experience working for humanitarian agencies.

Job Title: M&E Manager
Location: Maiduguri - Borno State - with frequent travel to other activity sites
Starting date: ASAP
Reporting to: Project Manager
Duration: 12 months
Position Summary
- The Monitoring and Evaluation Manager is responsible for guiding the monitoring and evaluation strategy and project activities using a developmental evaluation approach.
- The manager core function will be the following:
- Developing monitoring and evaluation systems with the communities
- Reporting on monitoring and evaluation results
- Developing remote monitoring systems
- Ensuring the dissemination of monitoring and evaluation results with the communities, INTERSOS team and supporting development of donors reports
Responsibilities
- Keep and/or adapt the monitoring and evaluation methodology with the health and nutrition team and the communities in order to keep improving the development of simple but relevant tools to collect key indicators in the communities.
- Train the monitoring and evaluation team on tools to improve participatory planning, monitoring and evaluation.
- Develop methodologies and tools to help the community, INTERSOS Staff, and MOH using the monitoring and evaluation results to take action together in order to improve health and nutrition (i.e. adequate use of census to take action, use of situation room to take action, etc.)
- Collaborate in creating monitoring and evaluation frameworks and participate in planning and undertaking health surveys, rapid assessments, as well as in the monitoring and evaluation of the health & Nutrition program activities.
- Prepare monitoring and evaluation reports in coordination with statistics to regularly share the results and identify areas to improve.
- Guide staff and members of the community to prepare relevant reports to determine actions to take.
- Analyse monitoring and evaluation reports to assess problems and taking actions to improve.
- Supervise the development of remote monitoring and evaluation systems in coordination with the health and nutrition
- Develop monitoring and evaluation systems for health promoter trainings in coordination with the primary health care team and health promoters.
- Implement and analyse the effectiveness of the remote monitoring and evaluation
Minimum Requirements
- Masters in Public Health (M.P.H)
- Experience with planning and designing public health program
- At least 5 years of experience in the design and implementation of M&E in development and emergency projects
- Experience in designing tools and strategies for data collection, analysis and production of reports
- Strong training & facilitation skills
- Fluency in spoken and written English and other local language an advantage
- Ability to work well with others.
- Good working knowledge of computer packages including word processing and database packages
- Ability to work independently and make good decisions with minimum supervision.
- Background/familiarity with Emergency.
- Strong interpersonal and team building skills and excellence as a team player.
- Manages effectively time as well as flexible and available to work over time when needed

Job Title: WASH Supervisor
Location: Maiduguri, Borno
Starting Date: ASAP
Duration of Contract: 12 months
Purpose of the Position
- The WaSH Supervisor will be based in Maiduguri, Borno State, with frequent field trips. S/he will be responsible for the implementation of all the WASH activities defined in a project, for the quality of INTERSOS’ interactions with the IDPs and local communities, ensuring strong relationships and promoting community ownership of all INTERSOS activities related to water, sanitation and hygiene in targeted LGAs, Borno State.
- The WASH Supervisor is responsible for activities Planning and Supervision of Field Staff, Technical designs of WASH Infrastructures, Conducting trainings for communities on hygiene, Water Management Committees, Awareness campain, Data collection, supporting the team in developing the new concept ideas and mobilizing the communities for WASH activities.
Responsibilities
- Design Water and Sanitation Construction Projects and prepare Bill of Quantities.
- Monitor the construction of water supply systems and distributions, network, gravity flow, drinking water quality and treatment (Chlorination), Organize, manage and record
- INTERSOS distributions as required, in collaboration with the Hygiene Promoters/Social Mobilizers.
- Supervise Water and Sanitation construction projects and ensure contract terms and conditions and Health & safety guide lines are adhered to for the entire duration of the contract.
- Monitoring the drilling of bore holes, that is water source development, well and borehole installation
- Participate in drafting new proposals of activities, including the technical descriptions and the budget associated with them.
- Work along with the hygiene promotion team in all the processes of selecting, designing, implementing and monitoring the WASH systems and activities by meetings and good communication.
- Regularly inform the field manager verbally and with written reports on the state and progress of the activities and the problems and/or solutions identified
- Ensure community participation in all WASH activities.
- Provide detailed, accurate and timely weekly reports to supervisor on activities, challenges and areas in need of improvement
- Ensure constant communication with INTERSOS WASH staff to identify potential problems, formulate recommendations and solutions and report
- Conduct regular monitoring visits to the field, to follow-up on INTERSOS activities and ensure community participation in the activities
- Ensure that consideration is given with focus on gender, protection and HIV/AIDS in water and sanitation activities.
- Participate in organizing all logistical support for meetings, seminars, workshops and missions
- Attend the Co-ordination meetings conduct needs assessments of the area whenever requested, inform and co-ordinate the WASH activities with the other agencies and actors carrying out similar activities
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Must have a minimum of Diploma in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Environmental Engineering or relevant University Degree in the same field.
- Experience in WASH, preferably with humanitarian organization
- Knowledge of Computer aided design and Microsoft Office – AUTOCAD, ARCHICAD, MS
- Excel, MS Word and MS Power point
- Language: English is mandatory and knowledge of local language is an asset
- Strong humanitarian commitment

- Availability to work in targeted LGAs, Borno State.
