Job Title: Manager, Compliance
Location: Lagos
Job Description
- Establish and maintain a robust and effective compliance framework in line with best practice for a highly regulated industry.
- Extract value from what we already have by focusing on
optimizing processes within the Unit/Department in line with the value
creation philosophy. This includes individual contributions and
recommendations to improve existing business project/initiative,
capital/budget efficiency activities within the Unit, contracts review
and negotiation in collaboration with the Procurement team, structural
changes within the Unit etc.
- Drive Innovation by identifying and taking advantage of new
business opportunities, e.g., by stimulating and encouraging new
business opportunities, launch of products, product/process innovation,
business model innovation etc.
- Maintain leadership in the ICT/Digital industry by influencing
stakeholders within your immediate ecosystem for MTNN’s benefit. This
includes participation in credible external think-tank sessions,
involvement in inter-divisional focus Group sessions to improve business
performance etc.
- Support in the development of an Ethics Framework and deployment of the framework across the organisation.
- Proactively identify, evaluate, mitigate and report on compliance, regulatory and reputational risks across MTNN.
- Support in the development of an Ethics Framework and deployment
of the framework across the organisation - Act as a Corporate Ethics
enforcement agent and Ethical leader and contribute in no small measure
in establishing a sustainable ethical culture.
- Proactively identify, evaluate, mitigate and report on compliance, regulatory and reputational risks across MTNN.
- Monitor observance of compliance regulations and coordinate with the BRM team.
- Ensure the inclusion of the required level of risk analysis in
relation to M&A transactions including requiring appropriate and
timely risk analysis during the due diligence phase etc.
- Enhance/expand MTN’s role in the larger national macro
environment by participating in CSR projects and/or NGO’s, involvement
in recognized professional institutions, think-tank activities etc.
- Role model the vital behaviours needed to sustain organisational
performance and drive people management activities by being the
principal coach for your direct reports using the people management
framework. Participate in employee engagement projects such as
mentorship, facilitating programs, etc. In addition, support
recruitment, on boarding and grievance management processes etc.
- Develop and maintain an enterprise wide Compliance Manual and
update internal processes and procedures as required due to regulatory
changes.
- Assist with implementing a company-wide risk-based compliance
monitoring programme, identifying, assessing, monitoring and reporting
all material compliance risks.
- Protect company asset by establishing /implementing compliance
standards; anticipating emerging compliance trends; designing
improvements to internal control structure enterprise-wide.
- Assist with preparing standard and ad-hoc information and data reports to Regulators and other stakeholders as required.

Requiremnets
Experience & Training:
- First degree LLB, BL
- Fluent in English and language of country preferable
- Minimum 6 years’ experience which includes:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an area of specialization with experience in supervising/managing others
- Strong and effective business communication (verbal and writing skills)
- Ability to plan and execute numerous complex projects under pressure
- Knowledge and experience of best practice compliance and
governance frameworks, methodologies and emerging practice, compliance
monitoring and risk assessments in the context of the Nigerian and
global telecommunications industry.
- In depth experience and understanding of the Nigerian telecommunications industry and regulatory framework
- Effective stakeholder relationship management experience in a telecoms regulatory environment

Minimum qualification
Job Title: Government Relations Advisor
Location: Lagos
Job Description
- Provide advisory service with regards to government related
issues at the federal and state levels and maintain a strong
relationship between these relevant institutions, with a view to
ensuring long term viability of the business
- Extract value from what we already have by focusing on
optimizing processes within the Unit/Department in line with the value
creation philosophy. This includes individual contributions and
recommendations to improve existing business project/initiative.
- Sustain the right organisational culture and behaviors by demonstrating the vital behaviours every time.
- Prepare correspondence and position papers on government related issues.
- Track and monitor events in the government sector, especially as they relate to the telecoms business.
- Provide weekly intelligence reports and feedback on emerging
issues in Federal and State Government circles as it relates to
Telecommunications.
- Provide informed opinion on all issues relating to MTNN from a
government relations perspective, including new legislatures, government
policies, etc.
- Drive Innovation by identifying and taking advantage of new
business opportunities, e.g., by stimulating and encouraging new
business opportunities, launch of products, product/process innovation,
business model innovation etc.
- Maintain leadership in the ICT/Digital industry by partnering
with MTNN’s Partners to improve their processes which in turn will
improve the efficiency of MTNN’s operations.
- Enhance/expand MTN’s role in the larger national macro
environment by participating in CSR projects and/or NGO’s, involvement
in recognized professional institutions, participating in think-tank
activities etc.

Requirements
Experience & Training
- First degree in any relevant discipline
- Fluent in English
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an area of specialisation; with experience with working with others
- Experience working in a medium organization
- Experience in roles directly related to high level interactions in government and politics
