Bonny Kingdom, an island located in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria, is set to establish a world-class, non-profit community Foundation for the purpose of championing its socia-econornic development, ensuring economic and social prosperity for its indigenes.
The Bonny Kingdom Development Foundation (BKDF) shall be governed by an all-inclusive stakeholder Board of Trustees and shall act as the implementing authority responsible for executing the developmental priorities in accordance with the Bonny Kingdom Master Plan.

The aim of the BKDF is to become an international, best-in-class, well-run development agency that serves as a global showcase for wetland regions all over the world. The role is situated permanently in Bonny Island, however, significant local travel may be required to carry out duties effectively. As such, it is recruiting highly-motivated and results-driven candidates to fill the management role below:

Job Title: Executive Secretary

Location:

Job Description

  • The Executive Secretary shall oversee the day-to-day running of the Foundation and shall work with the Board of Trustees to rally stakeholder support for the socio-economic development of Bonny Kingdom.
  • The role shall report directly to the Board of Trustees and shall oversee all Department Heads in the Foundation.
Responsibilities
  • Lead the affairs of the Foundation - managing day-to-day operational activities and coordinating the developmental efforts of all stakeholders on Bonny Island
  • Develop operational policies for the Foundation and facilitate implementation following approval by the BoT
  • Mobilize funding and donations from a diverse pool of donors (local and international) to support execution of
  • key development initiatives
  • Coordinate investment promotion schemes aimed at projecting Bonny Island as an attractive investment location
  • Administer the Foundations funds, according to the budget approved by the Board, as well as provide regular financial statements and reports
  • Provide periodic monitoring and evaluation reports to the BoT with clear impact and performance measurement on executed projects
  • Promote public awareness of BKDF’s mission, aims and activities
  • Represent the organization as a spokesperson at appropriate events and manage delivery of communication activities for the Foundation
  • Carry out all other duties as directed by the BoT
Experience & Qualifications
  • A Bachelor’s degree in any of the Social Sciences, Administration, Law and Engineering disciplines
  • An MBA or post-graduate degree in any project and business management field will be desirable
  • At least 18 years’ experience with a minimum of 10 years working in a management capacity preferably in a donor- funded and/or developmental organization
  • Extensive experience in successfully engaging communities locally and globally
Desired Skills
An ideal candidate shall possess the following:
  • Proven expertise mobilizing donor funds for large-scale projects (corporate sponsors, IDAs, etc.)
  • Active professional network with international development organizations
  • Proven expertise in Project Financing and Project Implementation/Management with a bias to community development programs
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both oral and written
  • Proven expertise in corporate strategy and business planning



Job Title: Head, Projects & Programs

Job Description
  • The Head, Project and Programs shall coordinate planning and implementation of economic and social development programs/initiatives as defined in the Master Plan.
  • The role shall report directly to the Executive Secretary.
Responsibilities
  • Support the Executive Secretary and BTto translate the Foundations mandate into appropriate plans and projects for execution
  • Lead the Projects and Programs unit in overseeing the planning/execution of all developmental projects across Bonny Kingdom
  • Quantify project benefits in a way that will enable objective evaluation of projects, against the Foundation’s objectives
  • Manage budget allocations for each projects and prepare status reports for all relevant stakeholders
  • Ensure all expenditure commitments (orders, contracts, budgets etc.) and all payments are properly authorised,
  • controlled and monitored
  • Monitor progress of ongoing projects to ensure achievement of milestones and performance indicators, delivery quality, and fulfillment of contractual and grant agreements
  • Identify, monitor and formulate resolution steps for project/program related issues, changes in scope, and contingencies that may be encountered during project execution
  • Manage all key stakeholders in the project planning and execution phases
  • Other duties as directed by the Executive Secretary
Experience & Qualifications
  • A Bachelor’s degree in any of the Social Sciences, Administration, Law and Engineering disciplines
  • Specialist training in Project Management with relevant certifications e.g. PMP, Prince II, etc.
  • At least 10 years’ experience in the management and successful delivery of large-scale community development projects
  • Demonstrable experience in the turnaround of major projects where the need has arisen
  • Proven experience managing multi-functional projects that have included 3rd parties as key stakeholders or business partners

Job Title: Head, Partnership & Investment

Job Description
  • The Head, Partnership & Investment Promotion shall be primary responsible for generating funding from multilateral sources for the execution of socio-economic development projects/programs.
  • It shall also include forging strategic partnerships with diverse bodies (government agencies, corporations developmental agencies, individuals, etc.)The role shall report directly to the Executive Secretary.
Responsibilities
  • Support the Executive Secretary to develop a fund- raising/investment and partnership strategy capable of meeting financial obligations of the Foundation
  • Lead team activities to develop and implement a fundraising program which generates funds from multilateral sources to ensure a sustainable funding base capable of delivering on the Foundation’s mandate
  • Coordinate and manage relationships between the Foundation and key funding partner organizations
  • Develop promotional materials and deliver investment promotion campaigns to attract/retain funding partners
  • Evaluate investment proposals in line with regulatory requirements and quantify benefits as input into strategic decision-making by executive management
  • Conduct inspections and compile stakeholder reports on existing and new major investment programs undertaken
  • Act as a spokesperson for the Foundation in donor meetings, key forums and with key funding partners
  • Other duties as directed by the Executive Secretary
Experience & Qualifications
  • A Bachelor’s degree in any of the Social Sciences, Administration, Law and Engineering disciplines
  • An MBA or post-graduate degree in any project and business management field will be desirable
  • At least 7 years’ proven experience in a business development role with a reputable organization
  • Demonstrable success working within fundraising/partnership development/public relations at a senior level
  • Well-networked with a strong understanding of the funding landscape for developmental projects
Desired Skills
An ideal candidate shall possess the following:
  • High expertise in financial modelling and proven success in delivering against financial targets
  • Proven ability to raise/mobilise funds on a large scale from diverse stakeholder groups
  • Proven success in building relationships, coordinating complex processes with multiple stakeholders, and influencing at the highest level
  • Strong advocacy orientation, and the ability to weigh against business needs
  • Extensive organisation, communication, and facilitation skills
