Job Title: Education Project Officer
Location: Mubi, Adamawa
Role Purpose
- The purpose of this role is to support the Implementation of GIZ education project.
Dimension of Role
- Communicates with Project coordinator in-charge of GIZ project. Supports the strengthening and training of the school based management committees, training of teachers working with local partners and the distribution of materials as well as follow ups and monitoring of project activities.
Key Roles/Responsibilities
- The incumbent will be expected to perform the following roles:
- Responsible for the direct implementation of the project activities in the selected local government areas(LGAs)
- Facilitation SBMC training and support for the strengthening of the SBMCs.
- Support and facilitate the training of teachers in pedagogy and in service.
- Work closely with the local partners to mobilize the communities in which the project will be implemented.
- Provide weekly and monthly project reports to the project coordinator.
- Raise purchase requests for the project and make follow ups with the logistics team to ensure timely procurement of the project materials.
- In the absence of the project coordinator, act on behalf of the project coordinator.
- Contribute to resource mobilization through updating Plan International through the project coordinator by providing updates on the needs in the communities, participate in needs assessment and provide lessons learnt and feedback to improve project quality and implementation.
- Perform any other project related duties as specified by the Child Protection in Emergencies Specialist
Dealing with Problems:
- Ability to manage competing priorities and expectations from internal and external stakeholders and remain calm and resilient in the face of pressure.
- Manage multiple and work with distant colleagues to form a virtual efficient administration team;
- Use Plan procedures to settle conflicts among colleagues;
- Resolve problems that are not covered by established process.
- Analyze possible causes of problems and suggest solutions to get them resolved.
- Refer, whenever necessary, the case to the Child Protection in Emergencies Specialist for consideration.
Technical Expertise, Skills and Knowledge
Essential:
- University degree or equivalent in Education, Social Science, Social Work, Psychology, or related fields
- Minimum of 2 years relevant working experience Education in Emergencies
- Experience working in emergency settings
- Good knowledge and understanding of DO NO HARM principles and established international child protection standards (especially UNCRC)
- Experience with participatory approaches to education, emergency preparedness, crisis/emergency relief management, or other related area.
- Experience working with IDPs, refugees and other vulnerable populations (ideal)
- Previous experience directly providing services to children at risk and victims of abuse, exploitation and violence
- Strong ability to work independently, organize work, meet deadlines, maintain composure, prioritize work under pressure, coordinate multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail.
- Community mobilizations skills.
- Facilitation and training skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills, creativity and flexibility
- Works well in and promotes teamwork, comfortable in a multi-cultural environment, flexible and able to handle pressure well.
- Languages: Excellent command of English language and Hausa

Job Title: Echo Project Coordinator
Location: Gwoza, Borno
Role Purpose
- The purpose of this role is to coordinate ECHO project activities in Borno State (Gwoza) in North Eastern Nigeria.
Dimension of Role
- Communicates within Plan International Nigeria and with partners and related government institutions. The post holder will coordinate the mobile EiE pilot project and also document lessons learnt, support assessments and monitoring and evaluation of the Education in Emergencies components of Plan International's emergency response.
- He/she is responsible for assessment, response analysis, design, capacity building. The post holder will also contribute towards the capacity building of Plan Internationals implementing partners.
Key Roles/Responsibilities
- In collaboration with the Field Team and Education Roving project manager, the field coordinator will support the implementation of ECHO project.
- Support the EIE Specialist in designing the plan for the mobile units
- Manage ECHO field operational activities.
- Coordinate with Key Local government authorities.
- Monitor the ECHO project implementation.
- Manage the field project team
- Ensure timely submission of field project reports to the roving project manager.
- With support from Community Engagement Officer mobilize and sensitize community on the new project
- Ensure timely procurement of all project items.
- Represent Plan International at the Local government level.
- Review, assess and update the education situation in areas affected by emergency
- Ensure key data from assessments could be used as a baseline for program evaluation. If additional baseline data is required to evaluate children’s learning outcomes, then work with appropriate colleagues to collect this additional information.
- In collaboration with national and international Education actors, map current institutional response capacities – including conducting an education specific 5Ws.
- Support in designing appropriate education interventions based on the outcomes of assessments and the context. Inclusion of quality issues in education and learning outcomes is really important.
- Perform any other project related duties as specified by the manager.

Job Title: Human Resource Officer
Location: Maiduguri, Mubi, Borno
Role Purpose
Reporting to the Human Resources Coordinator, the Human Resource Officer will support the Human Resource Department in achieving its core objectives of:
- National staff are recruited, developed and managed in a strategic, proactive manner to ensure the mission’s human resource requirements for programs and support positions
- National staff benefits, data and information administration are carried out effectively, in close coordination with supervisors/managers and administrators at all bases, to ensure smooth delivery of internal services to employees.
- The management team is supported with all administrative tasks related to both national and international staff.
Dimension of Role
- Human Resource Coordinator: Line management, exchange of information, reporting, collaboration, coordination.
- Logistics and Finance Departments: collaboration, coordination, and exchange of information.
- Abuja and other field-based Human Resource team: collaboration, coordination, and exchange of information.
Key Roles/Responsibilities
- Support the Humanitarian response recruitment and Onboarding process
- Ensure that all steps of the recruitment process are followed accordingly
- Schedule interviews and confirm attendance of candidates.
- Manage the posting, advertising and circulation of vacancies and the screening of received applications
- Liaise with managers for technical shortlist and to define the interview panel
- Ensure interviews and tests are done in a timely manner and proper documentation submitted and filed
- Participate in interviews as necessary
- Maintain a database of written technical test and interview grids for all existing positions and work with coordination team to develop these tools for new positions
- Update and maintain a recruitment tracking database and submit to Human Resource Coordinator on a monthly basis
- Ensure that all information related to payroll is received and filed in a timely manner and that supporting documentation is filed
- Prepare and distribute the pay slips to all staff on a monthly basis
- Ensure that signed time sheets and pay slips are received, tracked and filed correctly for all staff
- Act as the primary contact person with the insurance providers, communicating the start and end of insurance coverage promptly and ensuring the necessary administrative follow up is done
- Assist the implementation of a uniform briefing process across the response and ensure that it is provided for all new staff
- Facilitate staff trainings on Human Resource policy and procedure, as assigned
- Track the performance appraisal due dates for all staff and follow up with managers and to ensure they are reviewed in a timely manner
- Extract and track relevant training information from performance appraisals and submit to the Human Resource Coordinator to be followed in the country Training Plan
- Participate in the research and identification of training opportunities for staff in the response
Provide overall support to the Human Resource Department:
- Ensure the application of the Human Resource policy and provide advice and support to staff and managers
- Participate in elaborating projects related to national Human Resource functioning
- Draft and circulate Human Resource department communications as necessary
- In collaboration with the Human Resource Coordinator, develop and maintain a tracking system for response statistics

Technical Expertise, Skills And Knowledge
- Bachelor's degree in fields related to human resource, administration and management; masters’ degree a plus
- 1 year plus Years’ of experience working in Human Resource and/or administrative support positions
- Understanding of national labour law and employment norms and practices
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Approachable, diplomatic, able to work effectively in diverse, cross-cultural teams in a complex, multi-site work environment
- Computer literacy including all Microsoft office programs (word, excel, PowerPoint, outlook)
- Excellent attention to detail, highly organized, rigorous, self-motivated, strong sense of responsibility, ability to work independently
- Able to maintain confidentiality
