Job Title: Business Development Manager

Location: Ikoyi, Lagos

Job Summary

  • The Business Development Manager will lead strategic planning and market analysis to drive revenue growth, oversee freight forwarding operations, build client relationships, and innovate logistics solutions, all while leading and developing a high-performance team.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive market research and analysis to identify emerging trends, opportunities, and competitive dynamics within the logistics industry.
  • Develop and implement strategic business plans to expand the organization’s presence in the import and export sectors.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, partnerships, and client relationships to drive revenue growth.
  • Lead initiatives to increase market share, focusing on innovative logistics solutions and value-added services.
  • Lead and mentor a team of logistics professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Leverage technology to improve logistics operations, including real-time tracking, route optimization, and supply chain visibility.
  • Advocate for and implement innovative solutions that enhance efficiency and competitive advantage.
  • Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure smooth logistics operations.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards, particularly in customs clearance and international trade.
  • Provide training and development opportunities to enhance the team’s skills and knowledge in freight forwarding and logistics operations.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, understanding their logistics needs and providing tailored solutions to meet those needs.
  • Ensure exceptional customer service and satisfaction through proactive communication and problem-solving.

Requirements

  • A University Degree / HND in Business Administration, Marketing, Logistics, or a related field.
  • 5 years of experience in business development, marketing, and sales within the logistics industry, with a strong understanding of freight forwarding operations.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and proposal writing skills, with a strong ability to articulate strategic business development plans.
  • Strong networking skills to establish and maintain relationships across various levels within the industry.
  • Proficiency in using technology for logistics management, including real-time tracking, route optimization, and other relevant applications.
  • In-depth knowledge of the logistics industry, including regulations, port operations, freight rates, and market trends.
  • Proven ability to identify and cultivate new business opportunities, develop strategic partnerships, and expand market presence, particularly in import and export sectors.
