Business Development Manager at the Centre for Communication and Social Impact (CCSI)


The Centre for Communication and Social Impact (CCSI) was registered in 2001 as a non-governmental organization with the Corporate Affairs Commission of Nigeria. With headquarters in Abuja and a robust institutional capacity, CCSI focuses on the central role of strategic communication to impact behavior, influence policies, build brands, and lead in technical guidance on designing and implementing effective behavior change campaigns.

Job Title: Business Development Manager

Location: Abuja
Employment Type: Contract

Job Profile

  • Reporting to the Group Executive Director (Grp ED), this role has the responsibility to identify and develop strategic relationships with potential new clients while proactively teasing out new business from existing clients.

Accountabilities

  • Work with the Grp ED to set strategy and objectives for lead generation for new business
  • Establish a strategy for opening opportunities with new or lapsed clients
  • Source new leads and develop a network of key stakeholders to build pipeline
  • Lead business meetings/pitches
  • Identify trendsetter ideas by researching industry and related events, publications, and announcements
  • Examine risks and potentials, estimating partners' needs and goals.
  • Close new business deals by coordinating requirements; negotiating and developing contracts; integrating contract requirements with business operations.
  • Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in on and off the job educational opportunities; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  • Uphold and improve on organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Respond to request to proposals
  • Lead the preparation of and participate in presentations
  • Manage day to day activities for new business strategy and lead generation campaigns – track new business contacts/CRM database and follow up
  • Attend/network retail trade events

Technical Expertise, Experiences, Skills and Knowledge

  • Tertiary Educated.
  • At least 4 years relatable business development experience within the creative/agency space.
  • Strong experience in prospecting, proposal writing, sales and closing
  • Strong planning and organizational skills, with the ability to think and act strategically
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions independently.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in written and oral communications.
  • Advanced independent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong computer skills: proficient with Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word and Power point).
  • Leadership experience in managing a team.
  • Experience owning meetings/discussions with Heads of Business
  • Ability to take initiatives with minimal supervision.
