The Isa Mustapha Agwai 1 Polytechnic, Lafia is located along Jos Road, Lafia, the headquarters of Nasarawa State, Nigeria. The Polytechnic was established in the year 2000, to train middle and high level manpower in Science, Technology and Engineering as a catalyst for technological and industrial development of Nigeria in general and Nasarawa State in particular. It presently has a total of 22 Departments spread over six schools offering 29 NBTE accredited programmes at ND and HND levels.

Job Title: Bursar

Location: Lafia, Nasarawa

The Bursar

  • The Bursar is the Chief Financial Officer of the Polytechnic and is responsible to the Rector for the day-to-day administration and control of the financial affairs of the Polytechnic.
  • He/She is one of the Principal Officers and heads the Bursary Department and the custodian of the Polytechnic finances.

Qualifications and Experience
The candidate for the post MUST possess the following qualifications and qualities:

  • A First Degree with at least a second class lower division or Higher National Diploma [HND] with at least a lower credit in Accounting from a recognized Institution of higher learning.
  • A minimum of Eighteen (18) years post qualification cognate experience in the University, Polytechnic or similar Tertiary Institution.
  • Not be above 59 years of age on assumption of duty. Be a registered member of ICAN or ANAN or any other professional accounting body recognized by the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria (FRCN).
  • Be of proven integrity, intellectually sound, professionally skillful, and knowledgeable in the Rules and Regulations of the Polytechnic System and Financial Regulations.
  • Be a person who is not likely to exhibit/promote racial, ethnic, political, religious or other sectional sentiments in the discharge of his/her duties.
  • Have evidence of NYSC Discharge Certificate or Certificate of Exemption.
  • Be on the rank of a Deputy Bursar or Deputy Director [Audit] or equivalent post for a period NOT less than two [2] years in a tertiary institution of learning.
  • Be proficient in Information and Communication Technology [ICT], particularly Microsoft Office and Accounting packages.

Terms of Appointment & Conditions of Service

  • The appointment is for a single term of five (5) years in line with the extant provisions of Isa Mustapha Agwai I, Polytechnic Law, 2019.
  • The salary is consolidated and the appointee shall enjoy other benefits of the office as applicable to the offices of Principal Officers in the Polytechnic and as may be approved from time to time by the Nasarawa State Government.
