Bowen University is a licensed private institution owned by the Nigerian Baptist Convention. Established in July 2001, the University is committed to adding a distinctly moral dimension and Godly values to tertiary education in Nigeria.
The position of Vice-Chancellor of Bowen University, Iwo, will become vacant from 1 August, 2013. The University hereby invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the below position of:

Job Title: Vice - Chancellor
Job Description

  • The Vice-Chancellor is the Chief Executive and Academic Officer as well as the Chief Accounting Officer of the University.
  • In addition, he/she chairs the Senate, and other principal bodies of the University, and, except as otherwise provided by statute, nominates representatives to chair other Committees.
  • The Vice-Chancellor plays a vital role in securing and growing the financial base of the University.
  • All powers relating to proper maintenance and discipline of students is vested in him/her. He/she works with various bodies and authorities within the University to pursue the Vision, Mission and Philosophy of the University.
  • He/she exercises general supervision and control as well as provides strategic direction and leadership in the affairs of the University, “in accordance with the Baptist tradition of ethical behaviour, social responsibility and democratic ethos.”
  • The Vice-Chancellor is a member of the Executive Committee of the Nigerian Baptist Convention and the University Governing Council as well as all statutory committees of Council.
Requirements
The successful candidate must
  • Be a Christian, preferably a Baptist, of high moral integrity;
  • Have been a Professor for not less than 10 years, with an unbroken service within the University system during this period;
  • Possess the ability to strengthen relationships among students, staff, and other members of the University Community, and the general populace;
  • Have a feasible plan for the development of the University, in tandem with the laid down vision of the University;
  • Possess the drive and ability to attract funds and strengthen linkages with other institutions, national and international;
  • Be in excellent physical and mental health;
  • Be between the age of 45 and 60 years;
  • Be a dynamic, distinguished and internationally-renowned scholar who demonstrates academic excellence in terms of quality publications, teaching, credible community service and proficiency in Information and Communication Technology (ICT);
  • Be a man/woman of courage and unassailable transparent honesty, who can take decisions on the merit of facts, equity and patriotism with the fear of God, and not on the basis of parochial interests or primordial pressures;
  • Possess a successful track record of visionary leadership, innovative managerial accomplishments and highly developed entrepreneurial skills;
  • Satisfy other basic requirements for appointment as approved by the Governing Council of the
Terms and Conditions of Service
The Vice-Chancellor shall hold office for a single term of five (5) years only. Bowen University runs a unique remuneration package, which is similar to what obtains in other tertiary institutions. The Vice-Chancellor shall hold office on such terms as to emoluments and otherwise as may be specified in his/her instrument of appointment.



Job Title: Registrar
Duration:The appointment is for a single term of five (5) years.

Job Description
  • The Registrar is the Chief Administrative Officer of the University and shall be responsible to the Vice- Chancellor for the day-to-day administration of the University except as otherwise stated by statute.
  • The Registrar is also the Secretary to Council, Senate, Congregation and Convocation.
Qualification and Experience
  • To qualify to be appointed for the post of Registrar, the candidate, preferably a Baptist, must have a minimum of masters degree in the humanities, social sciences or law with at least 10 years post first degree relevant experience in University Administration or similar institution, and shall be between the ages of 40 and 50 years.
  • Membership of recognized professional bodies such as NIPM, NIM, ANUPA will be added advantage.
Requirements
  • The Candidate must be a team player with good leadership qualities to inspire and motivate a crop of administrative officers.
  • He/She must command respect, be ready to instill confidence and relate with subordinates.
  • The candidate must have high integrity, innovativeness and moral standard in tandem with the vision and mission of Bowen University and must be ICT (Information and Communication Technology) compliant.
Salary and Condition of Service
Bowen University runs a distinctive remuneration package which is comparable to what obtains in other tertiary institutions.
