Job Title: Biomedical Engineer
Location: Ajah, Lagos

Position Overview
- The Biomedical Engineer is responsible for ensuring the safe, effective, and efficient operation of medical equipment and devices within a healthcare facility.
- They provide technical support, maintenance, repair, and quality assurance services to ensure that medical equipment meets regulatory standards and supports patient care activities.
Key Responsibilities
Equipment Maintenance and Repair:
- Conduct routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on medical equipment and devices to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and implement timely and effective solutions to minimize downtime and ensure continuity of patient care.
- Coordinate with external service providers or manufacturers for complex repairs or specialized technical support.
Technical Support and Training:
- Provide technical support and assistance to hospital staff, including physicians, nurses, and technicians, regarding the operation and troubleshooting of medical equipment.
- Conduct training sessions and workshops to educate end-users on the safe and effective use of medical devices and equipment.
- Develop instructional materials, user manuals, and troubleshooting guides for common equipment issues.
Inventory Management:
- Maintain accurate records of medical equipment inventory, including asset tracking, maintenance history, and service contracts.
- Monitor equipment usage, lifecycle status, and obsolescence risks, and make recommendations for equipment replacement or upgrades as needed.
- Coordinate equipment procurement, including vendor selection, purchasing, and installation logistics.
Calibration and Testing:
- Perform calibration and testing of medical equipment to ensure accuracy, precision, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Maintain calibration records and documentation in accordance with industry standards and hospital policies.
- Conduct performance testing and validation of new equipment installations or upgrades.
Quality Assurance and Compliance:
- Ensure that medical equipment and devices meet regulatory standards, including FDA regulations, ISO standards, and hospital accreditation requirements.
- Implement and maintain quality assurance programs to monitor equipment performance, safety, and reliability.
- Conduct risk assessments and participate in incident investigations related to medical equipment failures or adverse events.
Emergency Response:
- Respond promptly to emergency calls and critical equipment failures to assess the situation, troubleshoot problems, and implement emergency repairs or replacements.
- Collaborate with clinical staff and other support departments to prioritize equipment servicing and minimize disruptions to patient care.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Engineering.
- 3 - 5 years relevant work experience.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to patient safety, quality improvement, and compliance with ethical standards and best practices.
- Previous experience in biomedical engineering, preferably in a healthcare or hospital setting.
- Strong knowledge of medical equipment principles, including electronics, mechanics, and software systems.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and standards governing medical devices and healthcare facilities.
Salary
N150,000 - N200,000 Monthly.
