Sasakawa Africa Association (SAA) is a non-governmental organization that promotes demonstration and widespread adoption of improved pre- and post-production agricultural technologies for smallholder farmers. SM assists host Country agricultural development program through its country program. The project is implemented through the three strategic Focus areas: Regenerative Agriculture, Nutrition-sensitive Agriculture and Market Oriented Agriculture to develop agricultural extension advisory services and to establish a relevant, efficient and effective Monitoring, Evaluation, Recording and Communication system.

Job Title: Assistant Accountant

Location: Nigeria

Job Description

  • Accounts staff are mainly recruited for projects in Country Offices. Their rnain job is to handle the project by coding, verifying, posting and preparing payroll and personnel income tax. Mainly they assist the Finance Coordinator in financial reporting

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Reconcile staff advance account.
  • Ensure proper filling of accounts documents
  • Follow up on staff advance retirements
  • Check staff and partners retirements for completeness and accuracy
  • Together with the Accountant, post PV5 and JV5 in Peachtree as at when due
  • Together with the Accountant, perform bank reconciliation on monthly basis.
  • Prepare payment voucher and write cheques when the need arises.
  • Disburse cash for field activities.
  • Assist the Finance Coordinator to register fixed assets and carryout inventory count annually.
  • Ensure that all assets of the organization are tagged.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.

 Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Minimum requirement: Graduate of account with 3-4 years experience in accounting and finance.
  • English Proficiency: Bi,
  • PPT: intermediate, Word: intermediate, Excel: intermediate
  • Ability to use accounting software (e.g., Peachtree)
  • Ability to adhere to SAA and local government financial procedures, regulations and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with the highest degree of integrity and confidentiality.
