Job Title:  IT Engineer


 
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The IT Engineer assists students, faculty and staff to maintain, repair and configure laptops and desktops. IT Engineer is responsible for general maintenance of University’s desktops and laptops in line with stipulated policies and procedures.
Position Requirements:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from a recognized tertiary institution.
  • Possess high level interpersonal communication skills.
  • Working continuously on a task until completion (or referral to third parties, if appropriate)
  • Certifications in MCSE, CCNA and others are preferable
  • Minimum of 1 (one) year post NYSC experience working as an IT personnel
  • Advanced knowledge of university supported applications.
  • Ability to learn and support new technologies.
Other requirements, abilities for the position:
  • Ability to develop a work schedule, set goals, creates / implements actions plans and monitor progress towards goals.
  • Skill in developing and maintaining effective working relationships.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy confidentiality.

Job Title:   Network Engineer

 
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
A network engineer is to monitor the cabling structure and devices within the AUN network; ensuring proper functionality of entire system. The network engineer also creates and sets up ways in which the network can be configured and managed. This person will help implement, troubleshoot, analyze, and maintain networks in line with stipulated policies and procedures.

Position Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related discipline from a recognized tertiary institution
  • Minimum of 1 (one) year post NYSC experience working as a network personnel
  • Certifications: MCSE, CCNA etc.
  • Advanced knowledge of cabling structured network.
  • Operating Systems knowledge: Windows, Cisco IOS, Linux family
  • Hands-on experience implementing and administrating Cisco network equipment: switches, routers, firewalls, network protocols, VoIP., Wireless Access Points and WLAN Controllers
  • Demonstrable level of competence including:
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Strong analytical abilities and professional office experience needed.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and maintain industry knowledge
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move network equipment and other ancillary equipment.
  • Possess high level interpersonal communication skills
  • A thorough understanding of the network technology and protocols
  • A practical level of experience implementing and administrating common
  • TCP/IP-based and other services
  • Working knowledge of common network monitoring and security utilities
  • Troubleshooting focused on determining hardware vs. software, network vs. application/systems
