American University of Nigeria Vacancy for an Assistant/Associate/Professor of Petroleum/Industrial Chemistry

We are seeking for a motivated, suitably qualified candidate to fill the position below: Job Title: Assistant/Associate/Professor of Petroleum/Industrial Chemistry Location: Yola Department: School of Arts and Science Summary of Position

  • The Assistant/Associate/Professor will support the Chair of Petroleum Chemistry Department and will be responsible for teaching, research and community service as may be requested by the Dean.
  • S/he will work closely with the Dean of the School of Arts and Science in formulating and implementing course structures that would translate to effective teaching and learning of courses in line with the development philosophy of the AUN.
Detailed Listing of Responsibilities
  • Develop, prepare and deliver teaching in Chemistry courses, especially Petroleum and industrial Chemistry courses.
  • Conduct research and publish papers in rigorous peer-reviewed journals.
  • Contribute to AUN’s community service and development.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Dean and/or Department Chair.
  • Support for senior research students and faculty research work.
  • Promote the department’s research and scholarly activities by presenting research findings in seminars and conferences.
  • Contribute to AUN’s community service and development.

  • Supervise research projects.
  • Tutor and mentor students.
  • Lead or be part of other committees aimed at promoting research, curriculum development, staff welfare etc.
Requirements
  • A minimum of five (5) years' work experience with at least four (4) years in teaching and research.
  • An outstanding teaching and research record commensurate with career stage.
  • Experience in problem centered approach to teaching and learning.
  • Record of publication in relevant peer-reviewed journals.
  • PhD degree in Chemistry/Petroleum Chemistry.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, administrators, and students.
