Job Title: Communications Engineer

Responsibilities

• Communication system installation, operation, trouble shooting, maintenance and repair for SCADA and substation systems

• BSc. Electrical/Electronics Engineering or its equivalent
• Minimum of three years of experience in communication system design, installation, operation, maintenance and repair for transmission and sub-transmission power systems.

• Designing maintenance strategies, procedures and methods; Undertake maintenance, repairs and improvements of the electrical and SCADA systems at the company’s waste treatment facilities. This will include reactive breakdown and preventative maintenance. Typical equipment includes control panels, lighting, motors, fans and PLC’s. Experience in all types of control systems is essential.
• Writing maintenance strategies to help with installation and commissioning guidelines.

• HND/BSc in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or equivalent training in transmission system maintenance and operation will be a preference
• Minimum of five years of experience in communication system design, installation, operation, manintenance and repair for transmission and sub-transmission power systems.

• Undertaking planning and scheduling planned and unplanned work; diagnosing breakdown problems; carrying out quality inspections on jobs; liaising with client departments and customers; arranging specialist procurement of fixtures, fittings or components; controlling maintenance tools, stores and equipment; monitoring and controlling , to maintain costs.

• BSc. or its equivalent in Electrical/Electronics Engineering
• Minimum of five years of experience in communication system design, installation, operation, manintenance and repair for transmission and sub-transmission power systems.

• The PC&M Engineer shall be responsible for installation, operation, and repair of all substation metering equipment, current and potential transformers, relays, reclosers and other protection devices, as well as recording and data monitoring devices

• BSc. in electrical engineering or its equivalent
• Minimum of five years of experience in substation device installation, repair and maintenance, including repair/replacement of relays, reclosers, current and potential transformers, meters, and communications equipment.
  

• SCADA Operators will monitor operating conditions and characteristics of 33 and 11 kV feeders as presented by the SCADA system, and will perform or direct line operations as directed by the SCADA team Supervisor. Line operations will be performed to ensure continuity of service in the face of line faults, programmed line maintenance, construction activities, and other scheduled or unscheduled events.

• Technical diploma in electrical engineering
• Five years of experience in operations of electric distribution and/or transmission system operations

• SCADA Supervisor will implement GPAL/APLE 33 and 11 kV feeder operating policies, managing load in accordance with available power supply, identifying faults as they may occur in the sub-transmission and distribution system; and managing data and preparing reports of system operations in accordance with policies and procedures established by senior management.

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent Engineering discipline
• 5 years’ working experience with SCADA as shift manager for operations of Transmission or Distribution SCADA system.
• Good Interpersonal and communications and ability to form effective working relationship with other individuals and departments.
• Must have high computer competency including experience with SCADA soft

• Sub-transmission lineman will implement line operations as directed by the SCADA team Supervisor or SCADA Operators. This may include but will not be limited to opening/closing sectionalizing equipment; clearing line faults; performing preventative and corrective maintenance; troubleshooting line faults as needed.

• Completion of Lineman training and apprenticeship program.
• Minimum of five years of experience in distribution and/or transmission line construction, repair, operations and/or commercial service with an electric distriubiton utility.
