An election is a formal group decision-making process by which a population chooses an individual to hold public office. Its a way the government of the day can know their public support from the citizens via casting of votes. Those who feel the government is working well and deserves more time in office, usually cast their vote for the government. 

Civil society is the aggregate of non-governmental organizations and institutions that manifest interests and will of citizens.It can also be seen as individuals and organizations in a society which are independent of the government.

Political participation is any activity that shapes, affects, or involves the political spheres. Political participation ranges from voting to attending a rally to committing an act of terrorism to sending a letter to a representative.
