Job Title: Veterinarian

Location: Lagos
Job Type: Full time

Job Objective

• Working in conjunction with the dairy team under the leadership of the Dairy Lead managing all aspects of the daily, weekly and monthly dairy routine work.

Job Responsibilities
Preventative, diagnostic and treatment of animal health:

• Implementation of preventative anima health measures
• Perform competent diagnosis of any animal health issue
• Schedule and lead the team of dairy workers for optimization of the efficient use of labor
• Daily record keeping of all events on hard copy and electronically
• Implementation of vaccination and animal health schedule
• Decide on efficient treatment of any animal health issue occurring

Implementation of the breeding plan for maximization of reproductive performance:

• Performance of daily heat detection
• Timely insemination and pregnancy diagnosis
• Daily record keeping and sharing of weekly updated herd record

Ensuring animal comfort and well-being:

• Daily management and optimization of all animal bedding
• Daily ventilation management

Other Responsibilities include but not limited to:

• Ensuring that all animals receive the highest standard of both clinical and nutritional care Developing a genuine rapport with co-workers
• Being noticed as a valuable member of the senior management team
• Providing weekly updates on all aspects of the dairy operation
• Updating and enhancing skills and experience in dairy related aspects by attending regular training.
• Organizing the daily and weekly routine for all dairy workers
• Prompt reporting of any sickness or disease
• Showing interest in, and enthusiasm for preventative animal care of dairy animals

Requirements
Education & Experience:

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree (DVM).
• Minimum of 1 year in related field.

Knowledge & Skills:

• Good knowledge of compliance veterinary policies and procedures
• Microsoft Office suite (Word and Excel; PowerPoint would be an advantage) or Open Office.

• Articulate – verbal and written
• Able to interact with a range of different people and functions
