Vacancy for an Advocacy Manager in an Engineering Firm
Habiba Balogun Consulting - Our client, a Business Membership Organisation in the Engineering sector, is seeking to fill the position below:
Job Title: Advocacy Manager
Location: Lagos
Reposibilities
Strategic Planning and Management:
- Lead and manage the development and implementation of approved strategy.
- Plan and develop proposals for advocacy, influencing, campaigning and research.
- Critically assess strategic opportunities.
Advocacy and Campaigning:
- Develop and evaluate the Association’s advocacy strategy and ways of disseminating same to the stakeholders and the general public.
- Identify opportunities for advocacy at key international events and arranges for representation of the Association.
- Develop and implements advocacy strategies, plans, events and trainings that advance the Association in relation with government policies and public image.
- Develop and maintain relationships with advocacy coordinators and other key volunteer advocates across the country, i.e. NSE, NACCIMA etc.
- Develop and maintain regular press interactions with the Association.
- Working with the IT Department and in close collaboration with the MD, researches and implements upgrades to the Association’s advocacy system.
- Contribute to the campaigns agenda rolling out of campaigns including national, regional & international participation.
- Develop a positive public image for the Association.
- Develop mechanism for measuring public interest in the Association.
- Map out strategies and take action in influencing Government policies on Consulting engineering.
- Develop mechanism for measuring effective of the association strategy on government policy
Learning, Research and Knowledge Management:
- Lead and Manage initiatives around advocacy, policy analysis and research.
- Critically analyse outcomes and impact of advocacy and policy, in order to document and share key learning and good practice.
- Support the Program Manager in generating & providing content for all the channels of communication
- Research thematic issue on advocacy, support and contribute to the thematic work of other champions as may be appropriate.
- Responsible for internal and external advocacy via online and other digital channels
- Other tasks assigned for the smooth running of the secretariat by the Managing Director
Skills and Qualifications
- A University degree or its equivalent in the humanities or social sciences.
- Five (5) years professional experience
- Website management skills
- Exceptional writing skills - formulates clear messages with high impact.
- Management experience, preferably in a comparable advocacy management function and/or BDM.
- Strategic thinking and analytical skills.
- Experience in policy, advocacy and promotional work.
- Public speaking and presentation skills.
- Organizational skills - handles multiple assignments and meets deadlines
