A leading operator in the Financial Services sector located in the heart of Lagos, seeks to fill the position below in its group:     Job Title: MD/CEO - Asset Management Location: Lagos Job Description

  • The Managing Director and Chief Executive of an Asset Management Company will have direct responsibility for client acquisition, the growth and preservation of the company’s Assets Under Management (AUM) in addition to the provision of strategic direction for the growth and profitable operation of the company.
Specific Responsibilities The Managing Director/CEO will:
  • Have primary responsibility for the company’s business development, client acquisition and AUM growth
  • Oversee the company’s achievement and maintenance of satisfactory competitive position within the asset management sub-industry;
  • Take steps to build an effective management team below the level of the CEO, and oversee the company’s active plan for management’s development and succession;
  • See that the day-to-day activities and affairs of the company are appropriately managed;
  • Formulate policies and propose actions that lead to the creation of value for all stakeholders of the company;
  • Develop and recommend to the Board annual business plans, capital and operating plans, and budgets that support the company’s long-term plan and strategies;

      Job Title: Investment Fund Manager   Location: Lagos Job Purpose
  • The investment fund manager faces the client and makes the big investment decisions that will ensure the highest possible returns on client assets.
  • The investment fund manager therefore has primary responsibility for client acquisition, asset allocation, growth and preservation. The successful candidate shall coordinate investment strategy for liquid assets supplied by institutional or individual investors.
Responsibilities
  • Entrepreneurial business management, developing new asset management opportunities and acquiring new HNI and institutional clients
  • Makes decisions about financial and investment opportunities on behalf of clients
  • Takes on high levels of asset growth and preservation responsibilities on behalf of financial institutions, corporate clients, investment organisations, and insurance companies
  • Conduct effective portfolio optimisation and enhancement through proactive and defensive positioning
  • Compile advisory reports and make informed recommendations on new investment opportunities and funds that could enhance or diversify portfolios
  • Examine and assess economic and market trends, earnings prospects, financial statements and various other indicators and factors to determine suitable investment strategies
  • Meets with an investment team, including analysts and other managers, to stay up-to-date about market situations and company decisions that may impact one another
Required Skills
  • Possess Master’s degree in Finance, Business, or in a related field; professional certifications in fund management will be an advantage
  • 7+ years of experience in asset management function out of which 2 must be dedicated to fund/portfolio management and leveraged finance
  • Strong spreadsheet modelling and analytical software skills

    Job Title: Head of Investment Research   Location: Lagos Job Purpose
  • The head of investment research will lead the conduct of research in the group. Research conducted at the group are typically aimed at understanding macroeconomic developments as they happen and improving the company’s forecasts of growth, inflation, labour markets, and central bank policy. This also includes client-focused studies, (analysis, forecasts and valuations) in the stocks, fixed income, and currency, real-estate and commodities markets.
  • The head of investment research is therefore expected to continually search for game-changing insights and consequently mine data that will create the competitive advantage for the group.
  • As the leader of our research team, he shall constantly identify and analyze financial information, strategic issues and trends that affect companies, industries and markets in Nigeria and on a regional and global scale.
Responsibilities The head of investment research is expected to carry out the following responsibilities on a day to-day basis:
  • Develop macroeconomic reports covering analyses and forecast of real output growth, inflation, labour markets, and central bank policy on a monthly basis. This shall also include client-focused studies, (analysis, forecasts and valuations) in the stocks, fixed income, and currency, real-estate and commodities markets.
  • Execute research and develop elaborate reports on key sectors and industries identified as high-potential candidates for value creation. This shall include the analysis and communication of key long-term drivers, competitive dynamics and company specific strategies.
  • Develop, monitor and maintain robust financial models and industry databases ensuring correct and up-to-date information for research reports.
  • Perform investment research necessary for the formulation and development of fundamental equity, fixed-income and real estate investment strategies and reports
  • Develop and back-test macroeconomic forecasting models
  • Researching and developing global macro themes and views published in flagship and adhoc publications, with the long-term vision of being able to drive the process of developing and producing original research and trade ideas.
  • Develop company forecasts and perform scenario analysis.
  • Make investment recommendations based on written investment thesis and earnings and cash flow models.
  • Participate in portfolio meetings and help strengthen the investment process.
  • Developing plans to expand the breadth and depth of touch points with the firm’s public company coverage, leading private companies, and our institutional investor clients
  • Review business/trade publications, annual reports, financial filings and other sources to gather/synthesize/interpret data on companies.
  • Maintain and update financial and valuation models on companies.
Ideal Candidate / Qualifications The ideal candidate should have:
  • MBA or Master’s degree in Finance, Economics or a related field and a minimum of 5 years’ experience either as a financial analyst or research analyst in an investment banking / capital market environment. Candidates with CFA will have advantages.
  • Experience utilizing investment related analytical tools such as Bloomberg, FactSet, BARRA, or Thomson-Reuters preferred.
  • Substantial training and experience in statistics, econometrics, and/or machine learning. Expert use of at least one statistical package is an added advantage.
  • Demonstrable super-excellence in financial modelling with MS-excel is a MUST.
  • Ability to multi-task with strong attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to work independently on information-gathering, coding, data analysis, as well as excellent written and verbal skills
  • Experience with both macroeconomic time series and cross-sectional or microeconomic data is a plus
      Job Title: MD/CEO, Trading & Securities Dealing   Location: Lagos Job Purpose
  • In charge of growing all segments of the securities trading business, such as brokerage, sales and distribution, and investor services in a profitable and cost-effective manner.
  • To provide leadership and support to the staff in order to sustainably grow the business through learning, enhancing capabilities and coaching.
  • To grow the securities trading business by developing a strong customer-centric culture aimed at achieving high levels of customer satisfaction and product penetration
Key Responsibilities Business Oversight:
  • Responsible for budget preparation and accountable to its execution
  • Oversee all securities trading business including brokerage, sales and distribution as well as investor services
  • Specifically oversee the securities trading business and growing trading volume and revenues on debt and equity instruments in a profitable and cost-effective manner
  • Specifically oversee sales and distribution of fund-raising mandates / transactions
Business Development & Customer Excellence:
  • Elaborate marketing strategies to develop existing portfolio and new opportunities.
  • Understand customer needs and respond with products and services in order to achieve business objectives.
  • Develop executive contact plan and arrange meetings with appropriate Heads of Units.
  • Conduct joint calls with team, affiliates’ commercial and corporate branches with emphasis on cross selling to increase wallet share for the company
  • Oversee customer service policies and implementation.
People Management, Operational Performance and Strategic Initiatives:
  • Participate in strategy/ success plan design and execution
  • In charge of the talent management by appraising regularly the staff, identify successors and retain top performers
  • Exercise leadership by building individual learning and development plans for the staff
  • Ensure that the business comply to internal legal and risk management policies as well as country regulations
  • Develop a strong culture within the team focused on high operational performance

Job Requirements Minimum Qualification:
  • Bachelor's Degree/HND
  • Professional qualification and Associate member of Chartered Institute of Stockbroker (CIS).
  • Maximum age limit is 40 years
Minimum Required Experience:
  • Candidate must have at least 10 year(s) experience
Other Requirements Qualification:
  • Minimum Undergraduate or Master’s Degree
  • 10 years sales including, 3 years of Management experience with good distribution track record in Capital Markets
  • Ability to interact and negotiate effectively with the internal and external customers
  • Sound Knowledge of Capital market
  • Product knowledge, ideally across various asset classes
  • Customer focused, results oriented and result driven;
  • Good organizational and time management skills are highly desirable;
  • Membership of a relevant professional body would be an advantage
