The University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED) in Ondo State, Nigeria: As the first specialized University of Medical Sciences in Nigeria, its mandate is to advance high level excellence through teaching, innovative research, and service delivery in all health sciences disciplines. We are recruiting to fill the positions below:   Job Title: Librarian Location: Ondo Details

  • The Librarian shall be the Head of the Library Department of the University. The candidate for this position is expected to plan, organize, direct and coordinate the operations of an academic Library services of the University.
  •  He/She shall be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day- to-day administration of the University Library.
  • Applicants for the post of University Library must have, in the past, exhibited considerable degree of competence, responsiveness, demonstrable integrity and transparency on matters of Library administration and management.
  • The candidate must be in good health and able to endure the rigour of the duties of the University Librarian.
  • Also, applicants must possess the following qualities: vision, proven academic distinctions, managerial ability, integrity and transparency in private and public life.
  • In addition, candidates should be able to develop linkages with the external communities to support the emerging needs of the University, command respect, cooperation and loyalty of staff and students of the University.
  • Applicants must show innovative approaches to the running of an ICT driven Library, working at the highest level of efficiency to promote and sustain a vibrant University Library.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Candidate must possess a honours degree with Master Degree in Library and Information Science or related field from a recognized University. A Doctorate Degree in Library and Information Science or related field will be an added advantage. He/she must be certified by the Librarian’s Registration Council of Nigeria (LRCN). In addition, the candidate must be Information and Communication Technology (ICT) proficient.
  • The candidate must have at least fifteen (15) years cognate experience in a University system or comparable Institution of higher Learning, five (5) of which must have been at a Management position. Furthermore, he or she must have attained the position of a Deputy Librarian in a University Library Department or equivalent Institution.
  • Computer literacy is mandatory.
  • A strong evidence of substantial number of scholarly publications both in quality and quantum in reputation international and national journals is required.
  • Candidate must be capable of providing academic and administrative leadership.
  • The candidate should not be more than sixty five (65) years by October 1, 2019.
Tenure
  • The successful candidate shall hold office for a single term of five (5) years from the effective date of appointment.
Salary and Conditions of Service
  • The remuneration and other conditions of service are as applicable to the post of a University Bursar of Public Universities in Nigeria and as may be determined from time to time by the State Government and the University Governing Council as appropriate.
      Job Title: Bursar Location: Ondo Details
  • The Bursar shall be the Head of the Bursary Department of the University. The candidate for this position is expected to plan, organize, direct and coordinate the operations of the financial system of the University.
  • He/She shall be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-today financial administration of the University.
  • Applicants for the post of University Bursar must have, in the past, exhibited considerable degree of competence, responsiveness, demonstrable integrity and transparency on matters of Bursary/financial administration and management.
  • The candidate must be in good health and able to endure the rigour of the duties of the University Bursar.
  • Also, applicants must possess the following qualities: vision, proven academic distinctions, managerial ability, integrity and transparency in private and public life.
  • In addition, candidates should be able to develop linkages with the external communities to support the emerging needs of the University, command respect. cooperation and loyalty of staff and students of the University.
  • Applicants must show innovative approaches to the running of an ICT driven Bursary, working at the highest level of efficiency to promote and sustain a vibrant Bursary and eliminate time wasting, bureaucracy, bottlenecks and fraud.
Qualification and Experience
  • Candidate must possess a B.Sc. degree (Hons) in Accounting with at least Second Class (Lower Division) plus MBA or M.Sc. in relevant discipline from a recognized University.
  • In addition, candidate must be a full member of a recognized professional accounting body such as ICAN, ACCA, ACMA, CPA or ANAN.
  • The candidate must have at least fifteen (15) years cognate experience in a University system or comparable Institution of higher learning, five (5) of which must have been at a Management position.
  • Furthermore, he or she must have attained the position of a Deputy Bursar in a University’s Bursary Department or equivalent Institution.
  • Computer literacy is mandatory.
  • Intending applicant should not be more than sixty (60) years of age by October 1, 2019.

  • The Vice Chancellor is the Academic and Administrative Head of the University and is responsible, under the Governing Council and in accordance with the Statute of the University, for organizing and conducting the Academic, Financial and Administrative business of the University.
  • The Vice Chancellor, as the Accounting Officer of the University, is the Chief Academic, Administrative and Financial Officer of the University.
  • He/She is the Chief disciplinary officer and has authority over all employees and students of the University, subject to the Statute and Conditions of Service of the University.
  • The Vice Chancellor is responsible for the promotion of a world-class, high quality University education and the provision of necessary academic and administrative leadership.
  • Reporting to the University Council, he has mandate to provide institutional leadership and oversight, develop and drive the vision, mission and strategies for advancement of the University.
  • The position of Vice-Chancellor of the University of Medical Sciences calls for a versatile, highly ethical, responsible and respected individual with unassailable personal and professional integrity, with a distinguished record of accomplishment in the University system, and with proven leadership qualities, administrative and intellectual capabilities as well as teaching and research credentials.
The Person The candidate, who should be a seasoned academic, should possess the following minimum academic qualifications and competences:
  • Should not be more than 65 years old by March 10, 2020 when the office of Vice-Chancellor will be vacant.
  • Be a medical doctor, and a holder of an earned Doctorate (PhD) and/or Medical Fellowship postgraduate Degrees, in addition to a first MBBS degree from a reputable University;
  • Have attained the position of a full professor for at least 8 (eight) years from the date of this advertisement and must have held senior administrative responsibilities in a recognized University;
  • Be a visionary and strategic leader with the skills and competencies to champion the University's Vision and Strategic Objectives;
  • Be an accomplished academic with a proven track record of quality research and publications in top global journals;
  • Have a proven track record of attracting research grants and funding support into the University System;
  • Have a demonstrated and proven record of substantial experience in international research partnerships, networking, team building, fundraising/ re source, mobilization and collaborative research.
Terms of Appointment The Vice Chancellor shall hold office for one term of five (5) years.
