Job Title: Group Accounting Manager

Location: Lagos, NG

About the Position

  • As the Group Accounting Manager, you will be an integral member of the company’s leadership team.
  • This position is accountable for providing the full breadth of the financial support services for PiggyTech group which includes working closely with the Management team of subsidiaries and the Group, business partners, and other internal and external stakeholders to drive effective financial control and planning process to support business strategy.
  • You will also bring in financial control through a structured outcome-orientated approach, creating specific implementation plans and governance structures, and generating transparency through measurement and feedback. You will report directly to the Group COO.

Responsibilities

  • Head the Accounting function for the group charged with planning, governance, financial control, budgeting, commercial negotiations, and performance review of all subsidiaries within the Group.
  • Responsible for creating the accounting structure and strategy for the team and drive adoption by all stakeholders.
  • Responsible for governing all accounting operational activities like MIS, Balance sheet, P&L, billing, A/R, A/P, cost accounting, and revenue recognition and deploying the team to discharge responsibilities arising from such activities.
  • Ensure tax and statutory compliance (I.e VAT, PAYE) for the group with all government agencies including FIRS, LIRS, etc.
  • Prepare, consolidate and monitor annual budgets and forecasts across the Group and report budget performance and variances to the Management.
  • Creating the Annual Operating Plan for the business functions and refresh the outlook for the year every quarter by working with Products, Customer Finance, Marketing, and Growth teams.
  • Identify, develop, and report on key performance metrics in tailored reports to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Produce financial analysis and presentations for internal and external stakeholders, including the leadership team, Board of Directors, investors, and strategic partners.
  • Ideate and execute innovative methods of financing various capital needs of the group and its holding companies.
  • Manage the year-end reporting and audit functions for the group by working with the internal accounting team and external auditors.
  • Maintain outstanding banking relationships and strategic alliances with vendors and business partners - represent the company to banks, financial partners, institutions, investors, public auditors, and officials.
  • Develop innovative business plans, financial forecasts, and analysis for strategic initiatives and ad hoc projects, including new business lines/markets/products analysis, strategic decision-making in day-to-day operations, and other growth initiatives.
  • Any other responsibility as may be prescribed by the COO or other members of the Management team.

Requirements

  • B.Sc. in Accounting, Finance or relevant field
  • 5-7 years experience in an Accounting, Audit, or Finance role with at least 2 years in a Managerial position
  • Experience in financial services
  • Demonstrated interest in the FinTech or alternative financial services operators, peculiarities, and nuances
  • Professional Certification (ACA, ACCA)
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite applications (Excel, Powerpoint)
  • Excellent knowledge of Accounting Software (Sage, Quickbooks, Microsoft Dynamics, etc)
  • Experience in managing multiple internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience in engaging different groups of Regulators
  • Experience managing teams
  • Experience in designing and maintaining chart of accounts
  • Experience in end-end financial and management reporting

Job Title: Accounting Associate

Location: Lagos, NG
Job Type: Full-Time

About the Accounting Associate position

  • As an Accounting Associate, you will be responsible for all tactical and operational duties of the accounting function.
  • This includes the preparation of accounting schedules, management reporting, statutory reporting, and internal and external stakeholder management. You will report to the Group Accounting Manager.

Accounting Associate responsibilities are:

  • Maintain proper accounting records
  • Prepare journal entries and post transactions
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and bank reconciliations report in compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards and relevant accounting concepts and principles
  • Support the Accounting Manager in budget preparation, annual reports, audits, etc
  • Review and confirm the correct tax computation and remittance and engagement of stakeholders for tax receipts
  • Manage and report on petty cash and operational expenses within limits set by Group Accounting Manager and Chief Operating Officer
  • Month-end closing activities like generating reports, cut off activities on specific workdays (monthly, quarterly, annually)
  • Application of the principles of the accounting manuals and update to the manuals subject to the approval of the Finance Manager
  • Development and update of Accounting SOPs
  • Engagement of internal stakeholders as required to fulfill responsibilities
  • Assist in the development and reporting of key performance metrics to help drive business productivity
  • Ensure timely preparation and transmission of regulatory filings and other external reports
  • Preparation of standard management reports and any other reports as may be required by management from time to time
  • Any other responsibilities may be assigned by the Accounting Manager to fulfill the typical roles of the accounting function.

Requirements
Accounting Associate requirements are:

  • BSC in Accounting, Finance or relevant field
  • 2-3 years working as an Accountant or Auditor
  • Professional certification or Part Qualification – (Professional level of ACA, ACCA is an added advantage)
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite applications (Excel, Powerpoint)
  • Good knowledge of Accounting Software (Sage, Quickbooks, Microsoft Dynamics, etc)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Intermediate report writing skills
  • Basic presentation skills

  • We are eager to hire an HR manager who connects easily to people, can recognize talent, and manage a fast-paced work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Direct all hiring and training procedures for new employees.
  • Coordinate and manage all reviews, Assessments, and appraisals during the periods they will be required.
  • Ensuring that the company complies/adheres to all pertinent labor laws and informing the management team when there are changes to these laws.
  • Regularly meet with employees for progress reviews, Feedback, etc discussing any problems or grievances they may have and providing adequate solutions.
  • Develop and monitor overall HR strategies, systems, tactics, and procedures across the organization.
  • Maintaining accurate implementation of payroll, Pension, and benefits administration.
  • Administration of employee-related paperwork, such as employment contracts, Promotions, or formal notices of termination.
  • Handling off-boarding interviews and surveys.
  • Ensuring proper documentation and verification of employee files including the documents stated in employees contract.
  • Developing clear policies and ensuring policy awareness within the company.
  • Advice and guide Team Leads and Managers on staff HR and performance issues
  • Maintain management guidelines by preparing, updating, and recommending human resource policies and procedures.
  • Handling highly confidential information in an honest and trustworthy way.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years experience in Human resources/People Operations.
  • Vast knowledge of Payroll and benefits administration.
  • Efficient HR administration and people management skills.
  • Excellent record-keeping skills.
  • Proper knowledge of how to use different HRMS.
  • HR certifications are a plus.
  • Ability to build and manage relationships at all levels of the business.

Working Hours:

  • Full time. The pattern of hours may vary according to operational needs and generally work will be carried out during normal office hours. PiggyVest is a flexible employer.

Contract:

  • This is a permanent contract. The period of notice is 3 months in writing on each side. There is a probationary period of 6 months.
