Job Title: Truck Driver

Location: Ajao Estate, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Description

• As a Truck Driver in the haulage industry, your primary responsibility is to transport petroleum products (JETA1, PMS, AGO) from one location to another, ensuring the safe and timely delivery of cargo.
• You will operate commercial trucks and adhere to all traffic laws and regulations. This role requires excellent driving skills, a strong sense of responsibility, and the ability to manage time efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Safe Operation of Commercial Vehicles:

  • Drive various types of commercial trucks, such as tractor-trailers, flatbeds, or tankers.
  • Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations to ensure a safe and efficient transport process.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure the proper functioning of the vehicle.

• Cargo Handling:

  • Load and unload petroleum productsonto the truck, ensuring proper distribution and securing of the products.
  • Verify the accuracy of shipping documents and ensure that the correct products are loaded for transport.

• Route Planning and Navigation:

  • Plan and follow the most efficient routes for timely delivery, taking into account road conditions, traffic, and delivery schedules.
  • Utilize navigation systems and maps to find the best routes and avoid delays.

• Time Management:

  • Adhere to delivery schedules and deadlines, managing time effectively to ensure on-time arrivals.
  • Communicate with supervisoursand logistics coordinators to provide updates on delivery progress.

• Vehicle Maintenance:

  • Perform routine maintenance on the truck, such as checking fluid levels, tyre pressure, and brakes.
  • Report any mechanical issues or malfunctions promptly and follow company procedures for maintenance and repairs.

• Documentation and Record Keeping:

  • Maintain accurate records of driving activities, including hours of service, mileage, and fuel consumption.
  • Complete all required paperwork, such as delivery receipts, logbooks, and bills of lading.

• Customer Service:

  • Interact with customers and warehouse staff in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Ensure that products are delivered in good condition and handle any customer inquiries or issues appropriately.

Qualifications

• Valid commercial driver's license (CLASS G) with the necessary endorsements.
• Knowledge of and compliance with safety regulations.
• Clean driving record with no major traffic violations.
• Physical fitness to perform loading and unloading tasks.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work independently.

Experience:

• Previous experience as a truck driver in the haulage industry is preferred.
• Familiarity with handling various types of cargo and equipment.
