Job Title: Technical Operations Engineer

Location: Lagos

Description

  • The Technical Operations Engineer for CEESOLAR is responsible for installing, maintaining, and optimizing solar mini-grid systems.
  • This role ensures that the systems operate efficiently, reliably, and safely to meet the community's (customer) energy needs.
  • The Engineer will work closely with the operations team, field technicians, and other stakeholders to ensure optimal performance and quick resolution of any issues.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Monitor the performance of solar mini grid systems using remote monitoring tools and on-site inspections.
  • Utilize Cloud based information technology tools to monitor multiple sites real time and detect any abnormality.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshooting to ensure systems are operating at optimal efficiency.
  • Implement preventive maintenance schedules and perform corrective maintenance as required.
  • Communicate effectively with community stakeholders, providing updates on system performance and addressing any concerns.
  • Prepare and present reports on system performance, maintenance activities, and operational challenges to management.
  • Manage spare parts inventory and ensure the availability of critical components.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and vendors for procurement of necessary equipment and materials.
  • Provide immediate technical support to customers and field technicians in the event of an emergency unplanned outage.
  • Resolve complex technical issues at site within 48hrs.
  • Document and Analyze system performance data to identify and resolve issues proactively.
  • Develop and maintain documentation of system configurations, maintenance activities, and performance metrics.
  • Ensure all operations and maintenance activities comply with safety standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct safety training for field technicians (where available) and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards and best practices.

Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Physics, or related discipline. HND holders are encouraged to apply.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to travel to remote locations as required.
  • Strong understanding of solar PV systems, energy storage systems, and related technologies.
  • Experience with remote monitoring systems and data analysis tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
