Job Description
- We are seeking a Research, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Specialist to provide senior level technical support to CCSI’s RMEL activities across various portfolios of programme intervention in Nigeria.
- This is a senior level position which requires proficiency in requisite skills and use of tools to ensure best practices are used in all RMEL activities and ensures accurate evidence is provided to internal and external audiences through dissemination, global conferences and peer reviewed articles.
- This role will work closely with the senior leadership management and the program lead ensuring that all RMEL strategies have sound theoretical basis to support social behavior change interventions. This position also requires strong capacity to develop business proposals.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Research:
- Ability to demonstrate and apply sound SBC theories, frameworks & models
- Demonstrates knowledge of public health, communication and/or social psychological theories / behavioural economic approaches.
- Provide leadership for the application of SBCC theory and models to RMEL studies and communication strategies.
- Build capacity of RMEL team to undertake quality research work
- Coordinates MEL data collection and quality assurance in the field per approved IRB protocol.
- Supervise data cleaning and management
- Conducts and/or supervises MEL data preparation and codebook development for analysis, independently.
- Performs qualitative analysis of data using software (Dedoose, MaXQDA, NVivo, and others)
- Performs quantitative analysis using statistical software (EXCEL, STATA, R) and/or or dashboard analytics (includes GIS mapping) and interpretation, independently
- Lead the development of Research and Evaluation designs to fit the local context and programs
- Develops MEL quantitative and qualitative data collection tools to respond to different study objectives.
- Develops mobile and electronic data collection tools w/Support.
- Develops Research protocol and obtain ethical approval from ethics committee
- Develops drafts of RFP for MEL data collection and reviews competitive proposals w/Support.
- Other duties, as assigned.
Monitoring and Evaluation:
- Develop M&E plans, frameworks and indicators for CCSI’s projects
- Implements M&E plans with quality assurance.
- Analyzes M&E data for program feedback and reporting
- Updates monitoring design to adjust to program changes while keeping an integrated system
- Ability to manage DHIS2 database
- Demonstrate a high level of professionalism when dealing with sensitive and confidential documents and issues, and with co-workers and CCSI’s partners;
- Coordinates the development of monitoring data collection tools including mobile data collection tools using different ODK platforms
- Develop and update program dashboard to visualize routine and periodic data
- Analyze routine and periodic quantitative and qualitative data to guide program management and adaptations
- Other duties, as assigned.
Learning / Knowledge Management:
- Contributes to the development of research and program reports and manuscripts (includes scientific writing) presentations, posters, blogs and other products, using writing that is accurate, clear with logical flow, and appropriate for different audiences
- Presents MEL findings at external and internal meetings and conferences
- Promote cross learnings across projects and organizations
- Support institutional memory and knowledge retention in CCSI
- Develops data visualization resources including from virtual dashboards for reports and other products
- Other duties, as assigned.
Business Development:
- Leads the MEL section of proposal development
- Support general business development
- Other duties, as assigned.
Leadership and Professional Development:
- Coordinate internal RMEL department capacity building sessions and periodic capacity building sessions for CCSI staff and consultants
- Presents at Research in Practice Brown bags, independently.
- Coordinates RMEL consultants and research assistants
- Supports relevant national and global community of practices e.g. the Curve
- Participates and shares learning opportunities that advance R&E and MEL skills within diverse communication and public health areas.
Required Qualifications
- At least Master’s Degree in Communication, Public Health, or related Behavioral Science with at least 10 years of program monitoring experience.
