Stakeholder Democracy Network (SDN) is a non-governmental organisation established in 2004 to support those affected by the extractives industry and weak governance. SDN works with communities and engages with governments, companies, and other key stakeholders to ensure the promotion and protection of human rights, including the right to a healthy environment. SDN has a team in the UK that supports the main office in Port Harcourt, in Rivers State, Nigeria. SDN has four main areas of work: protection of the environment; promotion of good governance; fostering of sustainable livelihoods; and support of peace and security.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Research and Policy Officer

Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Description

• Support the design of research methodologies for assigned projects, including tools for surveys, key informant interviews, and focus group discussions.
• Provide administrative and logistical support to project teams, where necessary and approved by your manager.
• Contribute written articles for the website and email mailing list.
• Contribute content for social media posts and advise communications officers on how to frame messages.
• Support data collection and collation from both primary and secondary sources, including transcribing audio files when necessary.
• Support the analysis of research findings and be able to formulate informative summaries.
• Contribute to writing and producing a range of research outputs that are geared towards informing the public and advocating for change among decision-makers (e.g., reports, policy briefings, blogs, news articles, etc.).
• Work with other project staff assigned to research duties (e.g., conducting surveys or drafting research outputs).

Requirements

• Candidates should possess B.Sc Degrees with 3 - 6 years relevant wok experience.
