Registrar / Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN)


The Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria is a category B parastatal of the Federal Ministry of Health established by Decree No. 89, 1979 now known as Nursing and Midwifery (Registration etc) act. Cap. N143, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004. The Council is a body Corporate with perpetual succession and a common seal. It is the only legal, administrative, corporate and statutory body charged with the performance of specific functions on behalf of the Federal Government of Nigeria in order to ensure the delivery of safe and effective Nursing and Midwifery care to the public through quality education and best practices.

The Council is mandated by Law to regulate the standards of Nursing and Midwifery Education and Practice in Nigeria and to review such standards from time to time to meet the changing health needs of the society. The primary objectives of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria are to ensure high quality of Nursing and Midwifery education in Nigeria, maintain high standard of professional nursing and midwifery practice and enforce discipline within the profession. The Council has its headquarters in Abuja with Zonal Offices in Sokoto, Kaduna, Bauchi, Enugu, Port Harcourt and Lagos.

Job Title: Registrar / Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Location: Nigeria

Responsibilities

  • The Registrar shall be the Chief Executive Officer of the Council.
  • He/she shall be the Secretary to the Council's Board and shall perform other duties as stipulated in the Nursing and Midwifery Council Act and such functions as the Board may from time to time direct.

Requirements
Interested candidates must have the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.Sc N) or Bachelor of Nursing Science (B.NSC) from an accredited University; Master's in Nursing from an accredited University.
  • Be a registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria;
  • Shall not be below the rank of Director in the public service
  • Have a certificate of administration and ICT an added advantage
  • Must be physically healthy and fit.
  • Be a registered Nurse or Midwife Educator or Nurse Administrator or Public Health Nurse Have a current practising licence issued by Nursing and Midwifery council of Nigeria
  • Have a minimum of twenty-five (25) years post nursing qualification cognate working experience in Public Service.

Salary and Condition of Service

  • Salary and conditions of Service shall be in accordance with the Public Service Salary Structure for this category of Officer.

  • Candidates should also enclose their Vision Statements for the Council in the next four (4) years in not more than 1,000 words.
