  • The business analyst’s (BA) job is to answer the most complex questions Success, Talent, and Learning teams have to answer.
  • To do this, you will report into the Data team’s analytic’s arm, but work as a collaborative thought partner alongside Andela’s senior leadership.
  • You will understand how each department works better than anyone else, and use that knowledge to deliver deep, actionable insights to leadership.
  • You will do this through a mixture of external research, analysis of Andela’s internal data, and construction of predictive models.
  • In addition to these analytical projects, you will also work with our Data Engineering and Technology teams to figure out how we can better collect key data in the future, and set up our systems to scale.
  • Perhaps most importantly though, as a member of a new team in a rapidly growing startup, you will be vital in driving the entire company toward a data-first culture, and ensuring that we are making decisions not just quickly, but with confidence that a more knowable truth is supporting that decision.
Requirements
  • Analytical mindset which allows you to break down complicated problems into testable hypotheses that can be answered through data.
  • Passion to work for a new organization within a company, including the chance to help create and define that role for future hires, evangelize a data-first mindset at the company, and to take on ownership of critical projects.
  • A remote-first mindset that allows you to work collaboratively and asynchronously with team-members across the world.
  • 2-5 years of work experience as a consultant, business analyst, or similar role.
  • Bachelor's Degree required, preferably with a background in statistics, mathematics, or other quantitative field.
  • Experience with data analysis, business intelligence tools (e.g. Jupyter, Tableau), as well as Python or R.
  • Intimate knowledge of SQL.
  • Familiarity with PostgresSQL databases and ETL tools.
    Job Title: Career Planning Manager Location: Lagos Level: Manager III About The Role Andela is on a mission to empower a generation of technology leaders across Africa. In the past two years, we have recruited over 400 developers, based in Lagos, Nairobi, and Kampala, who work as full-time engineers for leading technology companies across the globe. We’ve contributed over 7,000 hours to 245 open source projects, participated in some of the world’s most competitive hackathons, and even helped introduce Mark Zuckerberg to the Nigerian technology ecosystem. As part of the Andela Technical Leadership Program, we provide Developers the opportunity to pursue many different paths towards technical leadership, as well as help them prepare for their careers beyond Andela. As such, we provide Developers with career support to plan out the path they’d like to take through the Technical Leadership Program, in order to get the maximum benefit of the experiences we offer. Andela is seeking an experienced Career Planning Manager who will play a critical role in developing a fully integrated approach to Career Development for Developers at Andela. As the primary driver of Andela’s Career Services unit, you will be responsible for ensuring that Developers are equipped with the tools to plan their career trajectories both at Andela and after they leave. You will also ensure that Andela is doing everything possible to enable those careers. Roles & Responsibilities Career Counseling:
  • Develop and manage an array of programs and services related to career exploration, planning and development
  • Support Developers with defining and refining their career visions and career action plans to encompass their time at Andela and beyond
  • Check in with Developers (at least quarterly) to ensure that they are making progress on their career plans or updating it to reflect their new interests
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to create opportunities, tools and resources that support Developers in achieving their short and long term goals
  • Aggregate data from all the Developer career plans and collaborate with the Learning department to recommend potential new technology paths within Andela
Management:
  • Determine staffing needs through hiring, leading and directing a team to achieve the short and long term goals of the Career Planning team
  • Manage career counselors in performing related tasks
Strategy and Planning:
  • Lead strategic planning for the Career Planning department
  • Establish short and long term goals and ensure that the day-to-day operations are in line with the department’s goals
Qualifications
  • Significant experience building Learning and Development plans for medium to large organisations, ideally for employees in technical fields
  • Technical experience (ideally in software) in roles such as Software Developer, Software Engineer, Technical Project Manager, Technical Team Lead, Product Manager, etc.
  • Excellent written & verbal communication
  • Creative and critical thinking skills
  • Strong leadership experience, particularly around influencing stakeholders
  • Experience developing and managing a culture of continuous learning and improvement
  • Record of strong academic performance from a leading academic institution
  • Startup experience preferred, though not required
  • A great personality and good heart; we have a “no jerk” policy

  • Works closely with the Directors of Success
  • Responds to requests from the Account and Revenue teams regarding the availability of technical resources for partner engagements
  • Works with developers on the bench to make sure that their skills are properly updated in the Andela Information System
  • Evaluate new engagements as they are signed and kick off the developer application process for the engagement
  • Evaluate all applications for an engagement and other potential resources and make recommendations to the Directors of Success on the best resources to staff on the engagement.
Requirements
  • Have at least 3 years of experience working in software development, technology consulting or software product management
  • Have a four-year degree in Engineering, Computer Science or a related field from an accredited university
  • Have experience effectively working remotely
  • Are passionate about the evolving technology landscape and enjoy leveraging advancements to solve business problems
  • Have a strong understanding of agile software development techniques
  • Have the ability to build rapport and communicate with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills
  • Has the ability to present clear, well-thought out recommendations
  • Experience thriving in a fast-paced, collaborative, cross-disciplinary and geographically dispersed environment
