Sustainable Family Healthcare Foundation (SFHF) is an indigenous, humanitarian non-governmental organization established to promote the rights and access of vulnerable communities, including Persons with Disabilities to affordable and sustainable quality of life, with focus on access to inclusive Sexual and Reproductive health services with special focus on Obstetric fistula, WASH and livelihood interventions.

Job Details

  • We are seeking highly motivated individuals to fill the role of Project Assistant for the Disability Inclusive Disaster Risk Reduction (DIDRR) Project in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Under the direct supervision of the DIDRR Project Coordinator, the Project Assistants will play a pivotal role in providing administrative support to ensure the successful implementation of SFHF’s FCT DIDRR Project.

Responsibilities
Program Operations Support:

  • The successful candidates will work closely with colleagues across the project and the organisation at large, under direct supervision of the DIDRR Project Coordinator.
  • Collate and file all project activity reports.
  • Facilitate the development and collation of quarterly and annual project reports, submitting them to the project coordinator for final review and submission to donors and other relevant entities.
  • Work closely with the project coordinator to provide general administrative support for the SFHF project in the FCT.
  • Maintain the project activity calendar, managing project activity quicklists, and monthly activity plans according to the project results framework for timely and comprehensive implementation.
  • Assist with scheduling and provide logistics support for various project activities, including training, workshops, and outreach programs.
  • Prepare agendas, take meeting notes, and assist in the preparation of project presentations.
  • Support the project coordinator in planning and implementing program activities, such as communication to stakeholders, production of visibility items, and procurement document preparation.

Community Engagement and Outreaches:

  • Assist in community sensitization activities by working closely with project volunteers, community champions, and Disabled People’s Organizations (DPOs).
  • Support the creation and monitoring of Village Savings and Loans Association (VSLA) groups in communities.
  • Provide support for the implementation of livelihood and income-generating activities for vulnerable households.
  • Coordinate hygiene promotion, training, and support for community Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene Committees (WASHCOM), as well as the distribution of WASH Kits to project beneficiaries.
  • Support community visits and advocacy efforts to raise awareness of early warning signs and common disaster risk factors.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Disaster Management, Agricultural Extension, Development Studies, or a related field.
  • Capability to thrive in stressful environments with strict deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills in English; fluency in Hausa is advantageous.
  • Ability to travel when required.
  • Multitasking and teamwork abilities.
  • 3 years of experience in humanitarian programs, with a focus on WASH, Agriculture, Livelihoods, and Disaster Risk Reduction.
  • Combination of experience in Community-Based Organizations (CBOs), Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), and International Non-Governmental Organizations (INGOs) is essential.
  • Proficiency in report writing and meeting facilitation.
  • Knowledge of essential work-based computer software and applications.
  • Excellent coordination, time management, and task prioritization skills.
  • Ability to work under minimum supervision.
