Overview

  • Sightsavers is looking for a Programme Officer to coordinate the Supporting Access to Business Skills and Career Education for adolescent girls and young women with disabilities (SABI-Woman) Project in Nigeria.

About the Role

  • We are looking for an experienced Programme Officer to enhance the quality of the SABI WOMAN project (a component of the GESP) which seeks to build the entrepreneurship and employability skills and knowledge of young women with disabilities.
  • You will support the development of disability confidence of employers within the private sector and work to influence relevant state and Federal policies to enable more inclusive employment and more inclusive value chains.

Key duties will include:

  • Coordinate implementation of activities and sharing of lessons learned
  • Manage all aspects of the programme cycle with the partners including effective planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, financial and asset management, reporting and documentation.
  • Identify partner organisations and build partner relationships as well as supporting partners to identify their own needs
  • Assist programme partners in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, monitor expenditure of project financial resources and ensure Sightsavers and donor policy is adhered to
  • Provide excellent quality information on case studies and interesting news stories relating to the programme
  • Represent Sightsavers in programme and disability related meetings
  • National travel up to 50% of the time, for up to a week at a time

Skills and Experience
To succeed as Programme Office, you will need:
Essential:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Social Sciences, Education, Development Studies, Public Health, or any other relevant area, or equivalent work experience in a development organisation
  • Able and available to travel up to 50% of the time for up to a week at a time
  • Adequate understanding of the country disability legislation, labour market system and relationship working with organisations of persons with disability
  • Ability to prioritise activities and develop plans to achieve them monitoring own progress
  • Analysis and organises organisation of routine data on a regular basis

Desirable (but not essential):

  • Experience of networking and influencing both within and outside the organisation.
