The group has executed major projects around the country in all sectors with a focus on structural steel and oil and gas. Job Summary
- We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Production Engineer to join our production team.
- The Production Engineer will be responsible for optimizing manufacturing processes, ensuring product quality, improving efficiency, and maintaining equipment reliability.
- The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge, problem-solving skills, and a solid understanding of production operations, while actively contributing to the overall performance of our production facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Process Optimization: Design, implement, and improve manufacturing processes to enhance productivity, efficiency, and quality.
- Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving: Identify production issues, perform root cause analysis, and develop corrective actions to resolve any operational issues.
- Production Planning: Work with production managers to plan and schedule production runs based on resource availability, capacity, and demand.
- Equipment Maintenance: Ensure machinery and production equipment are properly maintained and operate at peak efficiency, coordinating preventive maintenance and troubleshooting repairs.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, quality assurance, supply chain, and maintenance to ensure smooth production operations.
- Training and Support: Train and support production staff on best practices, new technologies, and process changes to ensure a high standard of work.
- Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations and maintain a safe working environment for all production employees.
- Documentation: Prepare and maintain technical documentation, reports, and manuals related to production processes, equipment maintenance, and quality assurance.
- Continuous Improvement: Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives, applying Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies to eliminate waste, reduce costs, and improve quality.
- Quality Control: Work closely with the quality control team to ensure products meet specifications and quality standards and develop procedures to ensure consistency in output.
- Data Analysis: Analyze production data to identify trends, track key performance indicators (KPIs), and provide recommendations for performance improvement.
Key Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 5 years of experience in production or manufacturing engineering, preferably in [specific industry, if applicable].
- Problem-Solving: Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to implement effective solutions in a fast-paced production environment.
- Communication: Strong communication skills to interact with different departments and explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Attention to Detail: A meticulous and detail-oriented approach to work, with the ability to analyze data and make informed decisions.
- Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and lead projects effectively.
- Certifications: (Preferred but not required) Certification in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other industry-relevant certifications.
- Technical Skills: Strong understanding of production processes, automation, quality control systems, and industrial engineering principles.
- Software Proficiency: Familiarity with production management software, CAD tools, or ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in [specific industry, such as automotive, electronics, or consumer goods].
- Familiarity with advanced manufacturing technologies, such as additive manufacturing, automation, or robotics.
- Knowledge of sustainability practices and experience in implementing green manufacturing initiatives.
- Certification in Project Management (e.g., PMP) or Lean Six Sigma.
Work Environment:
- The role is typically based in a manufacturing facility, requiring regular interaction with production teams and equipment.
- Occasional travel may be required for site visits or training sessions.
- Will involve working in a hands-on environment, requiring familiarity with machines, tools, and production lines.
Salary Range
N200,000 - N300,000 / month.
