Job Title: Pastry Chef

Location: Lekki Phase 1, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

  • The Pastry Chef will be responsible for designing, creating, and executing a wide range of high-quality pastries, desserts, and confections for our discerning clientele.
  • This individual will work closely with the Executive Chef and other members of the culinary team to develop a seasonal dessert menu that complements our overall dining experience.
  • The ideal candidate will have a strong background in pastry arts, a passion for innovation, and a keen eye for presentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a seasonal dessert menu that showcases creative and innovative pastry techniques, while maintaining the high standards of the Observatory Restaurant.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef and culinary team to ensure seamless integration of dessert offerings with the overall dining experience.
  • Continuously research and stay current on pastry trends, techniques, and best practices to maintain a cutting-edge dessert menu.
  • Ensure strict adherence to food safety and sanitation guidelines, maintaining a clean and organized workspace at all times.
  • Participate in special events, private dinners, and other functions as required.
  • Manage the daily operations of the pastry kitchen, including preparation, production, and plating of all pastries, desserts, and confections.
  • Maintain strict quality control standards for all ingredients, ensuring freshness, proper storage, and handling.
  • Train, mentor, and supervise junior pastry staff, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Oversee inventory management, including ordering and cost control, for all pastry-related supplies and ingredients.
  • Assist with other culinary duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Culinary Degree or Diploma with a focus on pastry arts, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience as a pastry chef, preferably in a fine dining or 5-star restaurant environment.
  • Exceptional creativity and a passion for innovation, with a keen eye for presentation and detail.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team setting.
  • Demonstrated expertise in a wide range of pastry techniques, including chocolate work, sugar work, and contemporary plating styles.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices for pastry production and handling.

Salary
N150,000 - N200,000 / month.
