Tincan Island Container Terminal Limited (TICT), established in 2004, is a multinational company operating in Nigeria with its Terminal located at Tin-can Island Port, Terminal B (2nd Gate), Apapa, Lagos and has its Head Office at 1/3 Point Road, Apapa, Lagos. After a very competitive bidding process, TICT emerged as the concessionaire of Terminal B, Tincan Island Port. Armed with a long-term lease agreement with the Federal Government of Nigeria, and an unwavering commitment to continued investment in Port development, we are poised to position ourselves as a key industry player within the African sub-region.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

 

Job Title: Operations Manager

Location: Apapa, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Roles and Responsibilities
Shift Management:

  • Oversees the field execution of terminal operations during assigned shifts.
  • Ensures vessel operations are executed according to vessel plans.
  • Ensures that equipment and manpower are available and correctly positioned to execute vessel and yard operations within assigned shifts
  • Attends daily operations meetings to align on the status of work for the shift.
  • Monitors operations at the yard and examination to ensure all scheduled tasks are completed adequately.

Operational Efficiency:

  • Receives the discharge and loading plan from the planning section and prepare the vessel layout plan.
  • Allocates yard ranges for imports and exports per vessel.
  • Implements operational plans and procedures to enhance productivity.
  • Structures and establish goals and procedures, set priorities, and efficiently direct daily tasks of teams with consideration to safety, efficiency, lean methodology, cost controls, and efficient utilization of equipment and labour.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Enforces health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Conducts regular safety inspections and audits.
  • Ensures compliance with relevant regulatory laws and organizational policies.
  • Ensures team members attend weekly safety toolbox meetings and adhere to safety rules and operations best practices.
  • Ensures vessel operations team members are equipped with personal protective equipment.

Terminal Performance Monitoring:

  • Tracks key performance indicators (KPIs) and reports on operational performance.
  • Analyses data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Implements corrective actions to address performance gaps.
  • Completes required documentation associated with operations in an accurate and timely manner.

Communication and Reporting:

  • Maintains clear and effective communication with all stakeholders.
  • Communicates vessel operations sequence and stevedoring requirements to subordinates.
  • Shares reports with vessel owners regarding the status of the discharge and loading of the vessel at regular intervals.
  • Prepares and submits shift reports detailing operational performance, incidents, and actions taken.

Team Leadership:

  • Supervises and supports shift supervisors and operational staff.
  • Fosters a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Implements systems for monitoring and evaluating the work of direct reports.
  • Provides training and development to enhance team performance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the line manager.

Requirements

  • Candidates should possess Bachelor's Degrees with 7+ years relevant work experience.
