Green Habitat Initiative (GHI) is a non-profit non-governmental organization promoting the achievement of SDG 6 (clean water) and SDG 11 (sustainable cities and communities) in Nigeria. Incorporated in 2016 in Nigeria, GHI has worked in various sectors such as environmental sustainability, urban planning, sustainable urban development, urban agriculture, social urban innovations, architecture, WASH, solid waste management, recycling activities, environmental activism, etc.

GHI has worked with various local and international partners such as VINNOVA Group Sweden, French Institute Nigeria, Energies 2050, Embassies of Germany, France and Czech, The Water Mechanics, Baze University, One Environment, Stop Don't Drop, etc. to deliver its projects.

Job Title: Operations Manager

Location: Abuja (FCT)
Job Type: Contract, Full Time
Tenure: 1 year (Renewable)

Background

  • GHI is currently seeking to engage a dynamic, passionate, result-oriented and self-motivated individual to fill the position of Operations Manager on full time contract.
  • To help maintain and grow strengthen our position in the environmentalpolicy anddevelopment we’re seeking an experienced operations manager to oversee daily activities. An ideal candidate should have a sharp business mind and proven success managing multiple departments towards maximum productivity.
  • The candidate should also be highly skilled in human resources, finance, and IT management. Additionally, he or she should display a proven ability to develop and maintain an environment of trust, diversity, and inclusion within your team. The ultimate responsibility is to increase our operational efficiency in running the organization.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Maintain constant communication with management, staff, and vendors to ensure proper operations of the organization
  • Actively pursue strategic and operational objectives
  • Ensure operational activities remain on time and within a defined budget
  • Track staffing requirements, hiring new employees as needed
  • Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable departments
  • Assist the COO and CEO in establishing and maintaining an appropriate organizational structure.
  • Develop, in collaboration with the senior management team, an annual operating plan that supports GHI’s long-term operations strategy
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the organization and occasionally perform the duties of the office of the Chief Operating Officer when unavailable
  • Provides timely, accurate and complete reports on the operating condition of the organization
  • Maintain constant communication with management, staff, and vendors to ensure proper operations of the organization
  • Ensure communication, timely issue resolution, and effective project development
  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance protocols
  • Grow the efficiency of existing organizational processes and procedures to enhance and sustain the organization’s internal capacity

Reporting:

  • The Operations Manager shall be reporting to the COO at the GHI headquarters in Abuja and work closely with the CEO. Specific work plan and complete work schedule will be determined after hire.

Requirements & Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Operations Management, Business Administration, or related field
  • A strong analytical and data-driven mindset that translates into leadership skills
  • Demonstrable competency in strategic planning and business development
  • Sound decision-making and problem-solving skills in pressure situations.
  • 5 years or more of proven experience in an operations management position
  • Strong budget development and oversight skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and public speaking skills
  • Highly trained in conflict management and business negotiation processes
  • Familiarity with the operational procedures at all levels of the organization
