Operations Coordinator at Speed Relief Humanitarian Organization


Speed Relief Humanitarian Organization (SRHO) was founded in Maiduguri in February 2019 with the primary aim to assist displacement-affected population with live sustaining and recovery support. We are a Non-governmental and non-profit humanitarian organization committed to dignifying lives. We work in humanitarian emergencies to alleviate human suffering and reinstate hope towards a better tomorrow.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

 

Job Title: Operations Coordinator

Location: Maiduguri, Borno
Employment Type: Full-time

Responsibilities

  • The operations coordinator will be responsible for the technical and strategic development of the organizations Humanitarian and early recovery interventions, and will provide strategic direction and quality assurance for SRHO’s programming
  • Manage and regularly update theproject’s work plan and related financial plan, ensuring timely and quality implementation in compliance with the project strategy as well as SRHOs’ and donor guidelines;
  • Oversee the planning and implementation of all project activities;
  • Undertake detailed technical assessments of WASH and Shelter needs and gaps for assistance in the project target areas and develop vulnerability evaluation tools, to define exact locations of intervention and beneficiaries;
  • Ensure protection and gender issues are incorporated and integrated into SRHO’s early recovery, shelter/NFI/WASH activities.
  • Undertake routine field visits to the project sites to provide technical guidance and supervision to the team as well as regularly monitor the progress of Shelter activities;
  • Ensure relevant monitoring systems and ensure that systems allow appropriate implementation, including quick response to changing circumstances and erroneous assumptions in the project design
  • Review the technical specifications, technical drawings, and work schedules to ensure consistency with the most appropriate technology and existing sector standards;
  • Review the bill of quantities and bill of materials of the proposals to ensure the estimated costs are reasonable and comparable to the market rates;
  • Provide technical inputs and recommendations for new and ongoing interventions, and support the development of new proposals;

Representation, Coordination and Advocacy:

  • Ensure that the construction project activities are well-coordinated and implemented to ensure effective and efficient utilization of physical and human resources during implementation;
  • Prepare procurement plans against approved work plans and ensure timely initiation of procurement requests in line with established guidelines and procedures.
  • Manage the project staff, including work plans, schedules, and performance management;
  • Coordinate with logistics, administration, and finance staff to procure equipment, supplies, and materials required to implement emergency and recovery activities, ensuring cost efficiency and accountability in compliance with SRHO’s and donor regulations and procedures;

Qualifications

  • BSc Degree / Master's Degree in Water (WSS), Public Health, Sanitation or Structural/ Civil Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related technical field.
  • Minimum 3 years for / BSC or 5 years for MSc. with hands-on experience inprojects’ implementation in complex and volatile contexts; in planning, implementing, and evaluating early recover, WASH and Shelter/NFI projects,

Essential Competencies& Skill:

  • Technical CCCM/Shelter/NFI/WASH expertise;
  • Experience leading project implementation in a development environment and/or conflict zones
  • Good understanding of international human rights and principles of humanitarian work;
  • Previous working experience with humanitarian agencies will be considered a strong advantage;
  • Strategic thinker, demonstrated experience with use of log frames and theory of changes
  • Good computer skills (Excel, Microsoft, PowerPoint and Outlook, ERP);
  • Fluency in written and spoken English. Fluency in local spoken languages (Kanuri and Hausa) is taken as advantage.

Salary
N200,000 - N260,000 Monthly.
