Job Title: WASH Assistant - COVID-19 Location: Maiduguri, Borno Type: Full Time Department: Programmes - WASH Start date: As Soon As Possible Direct Line Manager: WASH Officer

Objective 1
  • Identification and support of LGA Task Force and LGA Rapid Response Team
Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Support in the identification and training of LGA Task Force, LGA Rapid Response Team, WASH and Health and Nutrition units on Infection, Prevention and Control (IPC) on COVID 19 together with other AAH project team members.
  • Attend and lead  regular LGA Task Force meetings
  • Support LGAs on work-plan activities for their LGAs.
  • Work with these LGA teams to ensure commitment and accountability with respect to how their activities or engagement promote infectious control and prevention of the spread of COVID-19.

Objective 2

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Support community volunteers or Community Nutrition Monitors and Surveillance Officer in identifying and sensitizing hot spot zones in communities
  • Support community volunteers or Community Nutrition Monitors and Surveillance Officer in identifying communities Point of entry for handwashing stations with soap and water.

Objective 3
  • Support Isolation centers, Health Facilities, and State level ToT training
Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Support health workers in waste management disposal training
  • Support training of Health Workers and state-level ToT training on IPC, Surveillance and Risk communication and Case Management
  • Support and monitor construction sites.
  • Be in-charge of basic PPE items that will be donated to the isolation center.
  • Ensure that isolation center staff maintain standard precaution with respect to Infection Prevention and Control at all times.
  • Ensure isolation centers are functionally set up to serve temporarily as an observation room of all suspected cases in the LGA before they are transported to the LGA.
  • Follow-up with all suspected cases to ensure that they receive the expected care until they are taking out of the LGA
Objective 4
  • Coordination of all COVID-19 related activities at LGA level

Qualifications Position Requirements:

Job Title: Warehouse Assistant Location: Maiduguri, Borno Job Type: Full Time Logistics Entry Level Department: Logistics Start Date: As Soon As Possible Direct Line Manager: Warehouse Officer
Objective 1
  • Ensure management of the base’s stocks and stores
Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Ensure all deliveries are physically conformed with delivery notes and/or waybills;
  • Update the monthly inventory and complete stock reports using AAH standard stock management tools;
  • Ensure that every item in the store/warehouse has stock cards and bin cards (if applicable) and they are up-to-date;
  • Notify base warehouse officer when the stock reaches minimum stock levels
  • Clean the store daily and ensure it is regularly disinfected and ventilated;
  • Check the temperature and humidity of the store;
  • Check the sanitary conditions of new products (absence of parasites);
  • Remove infected products and inform the program manager;
  • Treat the products following the procedures given;

  • Assist to complete monthly Stock report/SFU
  • Assist to complete Pharmacy report (if necessary)
  • Assist to provide weekly SFU to Warre house officer on deliveries including fuel
  • Assist physical inventory report based on monthly samples inventory (at least complete one every 3 months)
  • Archive all warehouse documents (stock cards, stock reports) , shipping documents (delivery notes, waybills, reception notes) as per AAH standard guidelines.

Objective 3
  • Monitor Stock Utilization
Tasks & Responsibilities:
  • Observe the minimum stock balances to anticipate any shortage in rolling stock and report it to the Logistics Manager;
  • Review monthly the minimum stock balance according to consumption;
  • Pay particular attention to use-by dates of food and medicine (if any), ensuring proper stock rotation;
  • Advice Logistics Officer /Assistant and /or concern programme department whenever expiry dates are approaching (within 2 months);
  • Carry out a monthly physical inventory of all items in stock and submit SFU to the Logistics Manager
  • Identify stock that is not being utilized and report to Logistics Manager;
  • Ensure that programmes stock is released from the warehouse before the end date of the grant it was purchased on.
Objective 4
  • Supervise the storage conditions
Tasks & Responsibilities:
  • Check weekly that the store is clean, organized and is regularly ventilated
  • Make sure that the stock is arranged in such a way that it’s easy to count and aisles are accessible Check daily and record the temperature and humidity of the store. More especially, make sure the approved layout is implemented when available
  • Supervise the management of infected products. For instance, make sure that there are separated and documented.
  • Ensure storage facilities are free from rats, rodents and any other pests which may damage stock and periodically plan for fumigation of storage facilities
  • Plan for disposal of expired/ infected products in collaboration with the Supply Chain Manager and the owner of the stock
Objective 5
  • Manage shipments and Cargo
Tasks & Responsibilities:
  • Receive and issue out the various dispatch documents ie SROs, DN Waybills as per kitlog procedures;
  • Ensure the owner personally conduct a physical review any stock they have requested and sign the necessary documentation;
  • Directly supervise the process of loading and unloading, including casual worker request, attendance sheets and ensuring timely payment is made.
Objective 6
  • Team management and communication
Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Supervise warehouse assistants day to day work;
  • Provide support whenever needed in sub-bases;
  • Handle the comprehensive work of any of his team member whenever there is a gap (leave, vacancy);
  • Keep a good information flow with the procurement team (in the base and Abuja) to either update on the deliveries or anticipate on the upcoming deliveries;.

He/she must ensure the writing of timely and accurate study reports and factsheets, ensuring the quality and accuracy of technical information provided as well as the confidentiality and protection of collected information.
  • He/she will ensure that Study reports contribute to aid coordination and planning and add to the general base of field knowledge on Porridge Mum
  • Ensure the writing of timely and accurate Study reports and factsheets, which comply with AAH’s guidelines;

Job Title: Community Mobilization Officer - Value Chain Enhancement Location:  Monguno, Borno Job type: Full time Programmes Starting date: As Soon As Possible Direct Line Manager: FSL Sector Manager
Tasks and Responsibilities Objective 1 - Provide support to the Sector Manager in implementing mobilization, and support to food producers and value chain actors in line with the work plan:
  • Responsible for implementing the activities inscribed under Pillar 2.2, 2.3, and 2.4 in Monguno and Kukawa LGAs in line with the work plan to adhere to the deadlines. This includes community mobilization and sensitization, targeting, management of relations with sector Government Agencies and value chain actors, training institutions, support to groups of food producers, etc.
  • Develop a community mobilization and sensitization strategy for effective program delivery.
  • Identify methods of community mobilization that enhance partnership and coordination with government officials, local communities, internal integration within sectors and programs.
  • Coordinate with LGA officials to share the plan and implementation of the project activities.
  • Provide training and orientation to target communities regarding Action Against Hunger Project and other parts of mobilization activities of the project as well as providing guidelines and training to field assistants for effective community mobilization at the local government area level.

  • Train Assistants on ACTION AGAINST HUNGER principles, essential policies, and procedures, as well as the RESILAC Program.
  • Develop clear work plans for Assistants, and schedule regular meetings to oversee progress against Pillar targets and to ensure adherence to the program’s mission and standards.
  • Line Manage and supervise Assistants in line with HR principles and on the basis of clear quality benchmarks and plans.
  • Escalate any HR issue to the Sector Manager and HR Department in line with guidelines.

  • Provide all information requested by the Sector Manager and MEAL Manager to enable progress and impact analysis, quality assurance oversight, context analysis, etc.
  • Assist the Sector Manager in reviewing activities, including plan, budget, and M&E plan and procurement plan, following up with the relevant departments to ensure quality and timely implementation.
  • Effectively escalate all key information coming from the field level and suggest mitigation of daily challenges to the program team.

Job Title: WASH Sector Manager Location: Maiduguri, Borno Job Type: Full Time Starting date: As Soon As Possible Direct Line Manager: Senior Project Manager
Objective 1
  • Support the  Senior Project manager for smooth implementation of COVID-19 response project
Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Support the project manager in the implementation of WASH project activities, ensuring that services are delivered on time, on budget, and in compliance with donor regulations.
  • Provide technical support, in all areas of WASH programming, ensuring that implementation methods are consistent with acknowledged good practice and achieve sustainable results.
  • Contribute so that the WASH project designs are implemented in ways responsive to communities, partners, and in line with Donor principles, values, and strategic plan and compliant with AAH procedures and quality standards.
  • Support the project manager in developing a Project implementation plan including procurement and distribution schedules of project inputs in line with project logistics/supply chain capacity.
  • In coordination with the Rapid Response Mechanism expert or WASH project manager, ensure that WASH staff have work-plans in place and follow up with team members regularly to ensure that activities are on track.
  • Responsible for the implementation in the working sites of the safety measures/rules for both AAH teams (including daily hired) and the populations/public.
  • Ensure proper and effective use of program resources, ensuring that all resources/assets in the project are managed in line with SC and Donor policy
Objective 2
  • Support the Senior project manager to the identification & formulation of WASH projects, and AAH Nigeria mission strategy
Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Participate in WASH technical assessments as directed by the WASH project manager.
  • Contribute to continuous situation monitoring  of the humanitarian situation and report to WASH project manager
  • Contribute to the design of new proposals for emergency response, medium- and long-term programming.
  • Contribute to the definition of the WASH strategy for AAH, and implement projects taking into account the key internal and external documents.
Objective 3
  • Support the project manager in developing proper Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting of projects.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Participate and support the project manager actively in developing M&E and indicator tracking plans for all grants, developing additional M&E tools as necessary to monitor project progress, with support of the M&E team.
  • Contribute to appropriate, timely, and accurate data collection against agreed indicators to enable both internal and external reporting.
  • Contribute to project monitoring/learning feeds into alterations into the project design.
  • Work with the M&E team to identify and incorporate project suitable accountability mechanisms.
  • Monitor program progress against both programmatic and budgetary targets, making adjustments to project design as necessary.
  • Support the project manager to establish appropriate checks and controls to ensure the quality of WASH construction works.
  • Prepare timely and high-quality project reports on project activities in compliance with internal AAH requirements.
Objective 4
  • Staffs management and capacity building
Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Take part actively in the recruitment and the training of WASH staff, in cooperation with the HR department.
  • Ensure that staff working under your supervision understand and are able to perform their role.
  • Identify (and where possible, provide) learning and training opportunities for WASH staff, and work as a mentor and role model for less experienced staff.
  • Establish performance management of staffs under your supervision through effective use of the Performance Management System including the establishment of clear, measurable objectives, on-going feedback, periodic reviews, and fair and unbiased evaluations
Objective 5
  • Coordination with Internal and External stakeholders
Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Participate in the WASH Coordination meeting held at LGA and state levels as directed by your line manager.
  • Develop WASH contacts with other NGOs, agencies, and technical bodies as directed by the project manager.
  • Support the project manager to assess the feasibility of AAH technical support and guidance to partner agencies and relevant governmental bodies, specifically the RUWASA.
  • Support the project manager in the capacity building of AAH WASH partners in the area of intervention.
  • Participate in emergency WASH interventions in Maiduguri as required
Objective 6
  • Contribute to the mission’s capitalization and to AAH communication
Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the compilation on a soft drive of all essential documents related to his/her project (s) and transmits them to the WASH PM and WASH Coordinator who will ensure that technically validated documents are further disseminated.
  • Contribute to the definition and implementation of capitalization/technical research topics.
  • Contribute to the setup of the AAH WASH database in the base.
  • Write and submit a handover report when his/ her employment is overusing the AAH format.
Position Requirements Qualification:
  • Masters / B.Sc Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Hydraulics, Water Resource Engineering, Geology, Environmental Health Science, Public Health or any related filed in areas of Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene..
  • Additional training courses specific to WASH in  humanitarian contexts and/or Program Cycle Management certifications strongly preferred.
Skills and Experience Essential:
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant working experience in areas of WASH intervention or emergency response /supervisory capacity in a similar context
  • Strong computer literacy, organizational and planning skills, report writing, budget oversight
  • Commitment to upholding AAH’s values, excellent interpersonal, and communication skills.
Preferred:
  • Experience in the INGO/NGO and humanitarian context.
  • Experience managing a team of staff.
Minimum Basic Salary NGN 308,589 per Month.
