We are recruiting to fill the position below:

 

 

Job Title: Nutrition Officer

Ref: IITA-HR-NRS2020-001
Location: Biu, Borno
Recruitment Type: National (1-year renewable contract)

Duties
Successful candidate will among other things perform the following duties:

  • Provide technical support to small and medium scale processors on processing and utilization of diverse and nutrient dense crop products.
  • Conduct Training of Trainers workshops and community level demonstrations for households on the development, processing, and utilization of diverse and nutrient dense crops products.
  • Undertake Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) campaigns and Counseling in Borno State particularly the five Activity LGAs of Bayo, Biu, Hawul, Kwaya Kusar and Shani to reduce malnutrition among farming households.
  • Promote the preparation, utilization and consumption of diverse and nutrient dense crops and promote them among smallholder farmers.
  • Develop methodology to promote consumption of nutrient dense crops.
  • Work with non-governmental organizations and community-based organizations to disseminate technologies on legumes processing and utilization of different location specific crops.
  • Maintain correspondence and linkages with community-based organizations and women groups.
  • Assist in planning, implementing, and monitoring of state activities on food and nutrition and contribute to drafting reports.
  • Work with non-governmental organizations and community-based organizations to disseminate technologies on legumes processing and utilization of different location specific crops.
  • Work with nutrition liaison support staff in the five Activity LGAs to support implementation of nutrition interventions, including homestead farming, goat rearing and Bee keeping for honey from.
  • Conduct trainings on nutrition education and WASH.
  • Perform any other job-related task as may be assigned by the supervisor

Qualification

  • BSc / HND in in Nutrition, Food Science / Technology, or related field with minimum of ten(10) years experience in a well-structured environment or donor funded organization.

Competencies
The ideal candidate must:

  • Have exceptional understanding of issues related to food and nutrition in the relevant states.
  • Have ability to work under minimal supervision and with tight deadlines.
  • Have ability to travel extensively within the relevant state and work long hours.
  • Be able to communicate in one or more of northern Nigeria's major languages
  • Must have excellent people skills and the ability to work in a collaborative multicultural environment.
  • Have ability to deliver accurate and timely reports.
