We are recruiting to fill the following positions below in Lagos State:
Job Title: Entomologist
Location: Lagos
Job Description
- Designing, coordinating, and initiating testing program to characterize activity spectrum, non-target organism effects and ecological risk of new products
- Preparing and reviewing ecological risk assessment reports to support registration of biotechnology-derived products
- Driving and leading new considerations/tools for non-target organism bioassays and ecological risk assessment on case by case basis--e.g. new modes of action.
Required Education and Skills/Experience
- Minimum Bachelor's in Entomology, Ecotoxicology or related discipline
- Experience in designing and conducting laboratory and/or field studies to assess for potential adverse effects on insects
- Functional knowledge of biostatistics, experimental design, exposure assessment, and analytical methodology
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong project and time management abilities
- Agility to work on multiple projects and flexibility to meet business objectives
- Self-motivated and capable of functioning as an independent scientist while being able to work effectively in a team environment.
Desired Education and Skills/Experience:
- Ph.D. or Master's Degree
- Professional experience monitoring and conducting GLP ecotoxicology studies and conducting ecological risk assessments for crop protection products
- Knowledge and/or experience interacting with regulatory authorities and issue management
- Experience with Nigerian ecotoxicology test guidelines and risk assessment approaches for crop protection products including endangered species risk assessment
- Prior experience leading scientific initiatives across functional areas
- Prior experience with quality management systems such as ISO or GLP
- Prior experience working in Environmental industry.
Job Title: Environmental Taxonomist
Location: Lagos
Job Description
- Designing, coordinating, and initiating testing program to characterize activity spectrum, non-target organism effects and ecological risk of new products
- Preparing and reviewing ecological risk assessment reports to support registration of biotechnology-derived products
- Addressing agency and academic questions around ecotoxicology and ecological risk assessment of products with sound and supported scientific responses
- Driving publications in accordance
- Representing Monsanto’s support for science based environmental risk assessment internally and externally with industry, academia, government and public stakeholders
- Driving and leading new considerations/tools for non-target organism bioassays and ecological risk assessment on case by case basis--e.g. new modes of action
Required Education and Skills/Experience

Job Title: Environmental Ecologist
Location: Lagos
Job Responsibilities
- Conducting field surveys to collect information about the numbers and distribution of organisms;
- Taxonomy - classifying organisms;
- Applying sampling strategies and employing a range of habitat survey techniques, such as geographic information systems (gis), global positioning systems (gps), aerial photography, records and maps;
- Carrying out environmental impact assessments;
- Analysing and interpreting data, using specialist software programs;
- Habitat management and creation;
- Writing reports and issuing recommendations;
- Liaising with and advising site managers, engineers, planners and others associated with a survey;
- Building relationships with stakeholders, including members of the public;
- Carrying out research;
- Undertaking teaching in schools or in field centres;
- Keeping up to date with new environmental policies and legislation;
- Contributing ideas about changes to policy and legislation, based on ecological findings.

- Statistics and other ecological data;
- The ability to use computer software for recording, analysing and presenting data and reports;
- Excellent written communication, research and presentation skills;
- Experience of report writing;
- Confidence in using survey techniques and identification keys;
- Team working and project-management skills;
- Self-motivation, energy and drive;
- An objective approach to working in conservation.
