  • Responsibility for designing, documenting, analyzing, coding, building, testing, and maintaining of applications in compliance with functional specifications. Comply with legal and regulatory requirements as well as meet the Bank’s short and long term objectives.
Detailed Roles and Responsibilities Financial:
  • Understand business requirements and translate into functional and technical specifications for generating code and testing the end products. Generate code in RPG and CLP languages. Follow the process for change and release management.
  • Coordinate and obtain appropriate approvals for projects that would impact capital or operating Expenditures
Customer:
  • Build and maintain strong and effective relationships with all Divisions to understand and address their business needs and achieve the Division’s goals/ objectives
  • Coordinate with business users, IT staff and suppliers and subcontractors to effectively configure, test and deploy new systems or enhancements to existing system functionality
  • Respond to business user queries and user requirements in a timely manner
Internal:
  • Design and develop programs and develop documentation for new systems or for upgrading existing systems that meet the operational needs and provide useful data/information to the users and the Bank’s management
  • Monitor and ensure smooth running of released programs, fix any bugs identified and develop utilities for housekeeping and file reorganizations
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of applicable legal and regulatory requirements. Effectively communicate such requirements through requirements specifications and system designs
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Bank’s systems and functionality
  • Constantly identify automation solutions to improve Bank’s operations
  • Develop new applications as per systems analysis and design documents within agreed policies, procedures and timelines
  • Interpret written business requirements and technical specification documents and perform coding
  • Involve quality assurance function in a timely manner to review and test the new programs as well as changes to existing programs
  • Write or contribute to instructions or user manuals to guide end users
  • Prepare detailed workflow charts and diagrams that describe input, output, and logical operation, and convert them into a series of instructions coded in a computer language
  • Compile and document program development and subsequent revisions, inserting comments in the coded instructions so others can understand the program
  • Conduct trial runs / testing of programs and software applications to be sure they will produce the desired information, that they correctly integrate with other systems and that the instructions are correct
  • Write, analyze, review, and rewrite programs, using approved system development life cycle standards
  • Maintain libraries of software codes with appropriate version controls
  • Carefully analyze possible software and application code changes to ensure congruence with the Bank’s long term planning and approved strategy
  • Correct errors by making appropriate changes and then rechecking the program to ensure that the desired results are produced
  • Consult with and assist computer operators or system analysts to define and resolve problems in running computer programs
