Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, formerly Federal University of Agriculture, Umudike, was established as a specialized University by the Federal Government of Nigeria via Act No 48 of 2nd November 1992. It began formal activities in My 1993 with the appointment of the first Governing Council and Vice-Chancellor. The Institution is located in the well-known Agricultural Training and Research town of Umudike about 9 kilometres from Umuahia town, the capital of Abia State. The major link road to the University is the Umuahia-Ikot Ekpene Federal Road a direct route to the State Capitals of Abia, Akwa-ibom and Cross River States. Being close to Umuahia the University is linked through a major North-South Express Road to most parts of the country.   • The post of the Director of Physical Planning of the University will soon be vacant Applications are therefore invited from suitably qualified candidates.
  • The Director of Physical Planning is the Head of the Department of Physical Planning and is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the conceptualization, Design, Supervision and Management of the University Architectural, Civil, Electrical and Mechanical Projects.
The Candidate
  • Candidates for the post of Director of Physical Planning must have a degree in either Architecture, Engineering, Building, Quantity Surveying, Estate Management, Urban and Regional Planning, plus at least 15 years of relevant experience especially on Campus Planning and Development.
  • In addition , candidates must be a registered member of relevant professional bodies such as Council for the Society of Engineers (NSE) and the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), ARCON (for architects), OQSRBN (for quantity surveyors), NIOB (for builders), NIESV (for estate surveyors and valuers) etc.
  • The successful candidate shall hld office for the period of 5 years in the first instance on such terms and conditions applicable to the federal Universities in Nigeria and as may be determined by appropriate University Laws and the Governing Council of Nigeria.
  • Candidates must not be below the rank of a Deputy Director of Physical Planning in a University or similar institutions.
  • Possession of a post graduate degree(s) will be an added advantage.
