Job Title: Mechanical Engineer

Location: Lagos
Level: 4

Job Purpose

  • To design Mechanical installations, prepare workshop and As-built drawings, as well as operational and maintenance manuals.

Duties & Responsibilities
In addition to being able to perform the duties of a level 2 and 3 Mechanical Engineer, he/she can carry out the following:

  • Excellent interface with building contractors and other subcontractors on site.
  • Report changes, variations, and site instructions to the operations manager.
  • Manage the site supervisors.
  • Prepare material technical submittals.
  • Prepare technical and progress reports.
  • Attend meetings (technical & coordination) and issue minutes.
  • Prepare shop drawings and project work schedules.
  • Carry out planning for procurement and raise procurement requests to the P&L department.
  • Supervise site workers and supervisors to achieve the work plan.
  • Assign tasks to site employees.
  • Read drawings, set out systems, and interpret drawings for workers.

OHS Responsibilities:

  • Drive conformance with health & safety rules within your teams.
  • Perform work safely to protect yourself and others from harm.
  • Follow health and safety procedures, including wearing personal protective equipment, obeying safety signs, and using work tools safely.
  • Be familiar with the company’s emergency and evacuation procedures and the location of emergency equipment (fire extinguishers, first aid kits, etc.) to be able to take appropriate action in the event of an emergency.
  • Participate in incident investigations (if required).
  • Promote the organization’s positive health and safety culture.
  • Do not tamper with or misuse safety equipment, devices, or any other company property.
  • Report any identified defects and potential hazards in the workplace.
  • Inform your Supervisor, HSE Representatives, HSE Officer, or QHSE Manager of any observed workplace injury, illness, or incidents.

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
  • Excellent working knowledge of plumbing and fire systems standards & codes.
  • Excellent working knowledge of plumbing and fire system installation principles.
  • Excellent knowledge of project management principles and practices.
  • Good working knowledge of AutoCAD.
  • Good working knowledge of engineering drawings and measurements.
