- NRC initiated country operations in Nigeria in June 2015, in order to respond to the critical and increasing needs in the country. NRC currently has a full team based in Maiduguri and a coordination office in Abuja.
- NRC is currently providing services across various sectors namely; Shelter and Non-Food Items (NFI); Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Promotion (WASH); Livelihoods and Food Security; and Information, Counseling and Legal Assistance (ICLA), Education, and Camp Coordination and Camp Management in order to address identified humanitarian needs.
- NRC is looking for an ICLA Officer for our area office in Mubi in Northern Nigeria. The purpose of the Information Counselling and Legal Assistance Officer is to provide support to the ICLA Team Leaders and contribute to the implementation of the ICLA program in Mubi Adamawa State, Nigeria
Duties and Responsibilities
- Implement the legal assistance programs including HLP, CDR and identity documentation activities innovatively to adapt to location and context, in line with proposals, strategies and donor requirements and optimize opportunities for synergies
- Contribute to the planning procedures and tools for implementation of ICLA projects in line with proposals, strategies and donor requirements
- Document project achievements and deliverables
- Monitor technical quality of ICLA projects and maintain transparency of implementation progress
- Contribute to an effective M& E system in the country
- Support and integrate gender, protection and advocacy priorities into ICLA program design
- Contribute to the development of the ICLA strategy, technical SOPs/guidelines and Macro LFAs for Nigeria
- Contribute to the development of funding proposal, project budgets, and donor reports
- Contribute to coordination and management of the ICLA project implementation (activities, budget and project documentation) in line with proposals, strategies and donor requirement
- Supervise Project Assistants, ensure transfer of relevant skills for quality program implementation
Qualifications
- Minimum Bachelor of Law degree and must have been called to the Nigerian BAR (be able to practice as a lawyer in Nigeria) and be conversant with international humanitarian and Human Rights law
- Minimum 3 years’ experience as a practicing lawyer.
- Knowledge of the laws and policies governing Housing Land and Property issues and Identity documentation is mandatory
- Experience from working as a Project Officer in a humanitarian/recovery context
- Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
- Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
- Fluency in written and oral English
- Computer literacy in word processing and spreadsheets is required
- Knowledge of the context in Nigeria
- Fluency in one or more of the national/regional languages (Hausa and Fulani preferred)
- Experience with humanitarian activities

- NRC is looking for a Logistics Technical Assistant (Mechanic) based in Maiduguri supporting supporting our operations in Nigeria. The purpose of the Logistics Technical Assistant position (Mechanic) is servicing, maintenance and repair of NRC vehicles and other engines according to NRC protocols to ensure that vehicles are in perfect running conditions for NRC.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance and repair of NRC vehicles according to the instructions in the logbook
- Cary out timely vehicles services (all types of services -A, B C - to all vehicles) and test all vehicles after each service and before handing back to its driver
- Keep record of vehicle’s driver remarks, and carry out repairs if needed
- In the case of a breakdown, make a diagnosis, inform to the line manager and after approval carry out any repairs needed
- Carry out repair works of other mechanical equipment. Fill in service, repair or vehicle log book
- Together with the Fleet Officer manage the stock of consumable items, filling in the stock cards, carrying out a physical stock inventory, making any orders necessary for renewing the stock, avoiding any shortage and ensuring security stocks
- Be responsible of the equipment and tools, checking they are correctly and safely used, maintaining and renewing them when necessary, keeping the inventory updated
- Support the evaluation of external workshops for eventual sub-contracting as well as light and heavy vehicle renting
- Report to the line manager any problem related to NRC vehicles
- Assist in briefing or training of drivers regarding vehicle services and maintenance
Qualifications
- Essential diploma/certificate on mechanics or related studies
- Demonstrable experience from working as a Mechanic (minimum 2 years experience)
- Valid driver’s license
- Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
- Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
- Knowledge of English
- Fluency in Hausa is an added advantage

- NRC is looking for a Driver for our Coordination office in Abuja - Nigeria. The purpose of the Driver position is to provide service support to the country programme. The driver will be in charge of NRC vehicles and conveying all NRC staffs in and out of the office to their various designated assignment areas.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Adhere to NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
- Prepare and develop status reports as required by management
- Promote and share ideas for improvement
- Perform according to the work and development plan
- Drive NRC vehicles to pick or drop employees at their designated duty areas within and sometimes outside Abuja
- Deliver Important documents to required destinations as directed.
- Ensure that all deliveries have been signed and delivered to the correct recipient
- Keep NRC vehicles clean and maintained at all times Perform preventive and regular maintenance on NRC vehicles
- Convey NRC staffs on assignments in and out of the office to their desired destinations
- Pick up and drop off NRC staffs and partners from the airport to their destinations
- Cleaning and maintenance of all NRC vehicles
- Chart the best route possible in order to save time
- Update the office on the status of the vehicle particulars for timely registrations and renewals
Qualifications
- Experience from working as service support staff in a humanitarian/recovery context
- Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
- SSCE of WASSCE or NECO Educational Qualification is required
- At least 3 years of experience working as a driver in a reputable organisation
- Valid Driver’s License/Driving school certificate
- Knowledge of the geographical/ streets and routes in Abuja
- Knowledge of preventive and maintenance measures for vehicles
- Knowledge of the road rules and signs in Nigeria
- Fluency in English
- Ability to work long hours and under pressure
