We are recruiting to fill the positions below:     Job Title: Warehouse Assistant Location: Maiduguri, Borno Job Purpose

  • Reporting directly to Warehouse and Supply Chain Officer, Warehouse Assistants perform number of duties aimed at ensuring that the operations of a warehouse are run smoothly on a daily basis.
  • Their work includes assisting Warehouse Officers and manager in making sure that the flow of goods/food in and out of the warehouse is handled effectively.
  • They control the flow of stock, monitor the coming in and going out of food/goods and handle stock records within a warehouse environment.
Main Responsibilities
  • Take orders from Warehouse Officer or Managers on a daily basis and review them thoroughly
  • Ensure proper loading and unloading of food onto or from the trucks
  • Ensure that correct quantity has been received by comparing received goods/food quantities with information on the work order/packing list
  • Identify any damaged or missing food/goods cartons and record pertinent information
  • Ensure that delivery forms are signed only upon satisfaction of completed order
  • Move received goods to appropriate storage areas and ensure bin cards are prepared or updated and put accordingly.
  • Make sure that all goods are labeled properly using appropriate lot and item numbers
  • Allocate storage space for food items based on their types and sizes and expiry dates
  • Isolate and report any broken or damaged food items/goods at the time of order picking
  • Ensure that information of picked goods is recorded in logbook and submitted to the commodity Warehouse Officer or Manager
  • Identify stock that is not being utilized and report to warehouse officer.
  • Carry out physical inventory of all items in stock on weekly, monthly basis and anytime upon request or convenience.
  • Pay attention to use-by dates of food and medicine, ensuring proper stock rotation. Advise Warehouse Officer whenever expiry dates are approaching (within 2 months).
  • Identify stock that is not being utilized and report to warehouse officer.
  • Establish and maintain meaningful relationships with WFP food transporters to ensure smooth working environment
  • Maintain stable temperature conditions within the warehouse especially where perishable food items are concerned
  • Conduct himself/herself both professionally and personally in such a manner as to bring credit to IMC and to not jeopardize its humanitarian mission in Nigeria.
  • Check daily that the store is clean, organized and is regularly ventilated
  • Arrange stocks in such a way that they are easy to count, and aisles are accessible
  • Check daily and record the temperature and humidity of the medical and RUTF stores
  • Remove/ separate infected products and inform in writing the Warehouse Officer.
  • Separate foodstuffs from other stock and pay special attention to dangerous goods.
  • Ensure storage facilities are free from rats, rodents and any other pests which may damage stock and periodically plan for fumigation of storage facilities.
  • Plan for disposal of expired/ infected products in collaboration with the Warehouse officer and program teams.
Communication and teamwork:
  • Ensure good communication with peers and donor’s representatives including Transporters
  • Facilitate harmonious working relationship with partners, beneficiaries and other stakeholders.
  • Report problems encountered in the warehouse or within the team to the Supervisor
  • Propose solution to solve any problem faced and report them to the Supervisor
  • Participate actively in regular staff and program meetings
  • Prepare weekly team’s work schedule and submit to the Emergency Program Coordinator.

Qualifications
  • A Degree or HND in a relevant Business field is desired
  • At least 1 year of experience in large scale Logistics operation, Manufacturing and or food assistance distribution.
  • Strong organizational skills and discipline to follow outlined procedures; ability to interact effectively with international and national personnel.
  • Willingness to travel throughout the project areas in Borno State is required.
  • Must read and understand and demonstrate willingness and ability to follow guidelines.
  • Capacity to work under stressful situations and Strong organizational and time management skills and capacity to coordinate work across multiple departments and sites.
  • Experience living in remote or isolated work stations, or insecure locations.
  • Excellent oral and written English skills. High computer skills on MS Office (Excel, Words. Outlook) programs.
  • A demonstrated ability to multi-task and process information into action as to not delay program activities.
  • A clear understanding of procurement ethics and donor compliance is essential.
      Job Title: Logistic Officer Location: Maiduguri, Borno Job Description
  • To provide quality logistic support for all IMC project sites in Nigeria, work with other members of the logistics team to develop and implement efficient logistical support systems for IMC.
Dimensions

Key Responsibilities General:
  • To take overall responsibility for the management, co-ordination & implementation of logistics. This includes procurement, warehouse & stock management as well as vehicle/fleet management
  • To take overall responsibility for the preparedness and the operationalization of Sites distributions (Foods, NFI, emergency Kits)
  • Define the best approach and the Needs to ensure Goods operational support for any distribution Programs
  • Ensure that appropriate measures are taken to implement and monitor Programme logistics plans. These should be through the IMC logistics, purchasing & supply procedures manual and close collaboration with the other programme support functions (particularly finance) and proactively planning with programme teams.
  • Ensure that logistical training plans and activities are developed and implemented. This should be targeted at key IMC staff and partners on relevant IMC logistical policies and procedures and compliance to donor requirements.
  • To develop and help implement appropriate logistical plans taking into account a contingency planning process in order to be prepared for any new emergency or urgency within the programme as well as closure/scale down of programme
  • Provide Monthly logistics reports (Narrative Reports, Assets and Inventory, requisition tracking sheet, and vehicle reports) in a timely manner, feeding into donor reports and ensuring procurement and assets control is done in accordance to donor requirements
  • Represent IMC at field level external meetings as and when required whilst establish effective transparent lines of communication with suppliers, INGOs/UN and local authorities
  • Ensure compliance with Government, Donor and IMC procedures and ensure risks are kept to a minimum.
Procurement and storage:
  • Coordinate with The procurement team to ensure that all the procurement for the distributions and interventions are done in time with goods quality of goods and services
  • Contribute to overall procurement plans for field level requirements
  • Ensure adequate specifications are provided from field level for all requisitions
  • Provide timely information to the programme department, on local and national procurement by maintaining a requisition tracking system.
Warehousing & Assets:
  • Keep on Track Asset Register and Stocks Reports for The respective Projects.
  • To set up secure, safe warehousing/Rub Hall for field storage of materials for the rainy season including fuel when needed.
  • Coordinate with the Asset Officer that coding and proper tagging of assets and the maintenance of an up to date and proper asset inventory for Project team equipment are done.
Transport and communication:
  • Ensure Field level rental Fleet, Rental Drivers or IMC drivers comply with IMC vehicle and driver policies and that an effective fleet management system is established with minimum risks to IMC.
  • Train drivers in the maintenance and running vehicles, security and travel protocols, and standard procedures.
  • Oversee the regulation of the use of vehicles and communications equipment.
  • To oversee the installation, programming, adequate use and maintenance of communications equipment such as radios, sat-phones, telephones, fax and V-sat or other mode of internet connection in the field.
  • Oversee planning of vehicle allocation in order to optimally serve the needs of the programme.
  • Oversee the repair and regular maintenance of the fleet in the field where field level servicing is possible.
  • To ensure field level monitoring of the fuel consumption and maintenance of IMC vehicles and the skills of the drivers.
Security:
  • Monitor and advice on security situation and, together with the Project managers, support appropriate actions to be undertaken in the field in relation to changes in the security environment.
  • Work in close collaboration with the Programme Team, Project Managers, and Country Supply Chain Coordinator to monitor and ensure that appropriate physical means are in place to ensure safety/evacuation of staff in their respective duty stations.
Personnel:
  • Training on logistics procedures and participation in the development of work plans of the wider team and partners
  • Identify the Needs of Daily Workers and manage them in line with IMC Procedures and planning skills
  • Ability to work and handle pressure & Strong team player.
Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse:
  • Actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards within International Medical Corps and amongst beneficiaries served by International Medical Corps.
  • Any other duties that may be assigned from time by supervisors
Skills and Competence
  • Preferably degree/diploma in Logistics and Supply or equivalent qualification plus mentioned experience.
  • At least four or three experience in logistics with a minimum two years managing, Huge and complex distribution in logistics (FOOD, NFI, WASH KITS, CASH,); Managing Logistics set-up for a Logistics Humanitarian Response; within an NGO or International Organisation.
  • Proven experience and knowledge of operational logistics & supply chain, policies & procedures
  • Good command of English. Proven ability to communicate effectively internally and externally, both orally and in writing
  • Initiative and active problem-solving skills
  • Proven training and capacity building experience
  • Proficiency in the use of computers (Excel and Word)

      Job Title: WASH Assistant Location: Damboa, Borno Job Summary
  • Under the supervision of WASH Officer, the WASH Assistant will be responsible to participate in hygiene campaigns, to participate in house-to-house hygiene promotion, to prepare written material for the field, elaborate clear and adapted message for beneficiaries, oversee the hygiene promotion and other WASH activities conducted by the community volunteers.
Main Responsibilities The WASH Assistant will be responsible for:
  • Selection and training of the Community Hygiene Volunteer (CHV) promoters
  • Collection of bio data for both CHV’s and beneficiaries in communities
  • Input beneficiaries’ data into spread sheet in preparation for distribution of NFI kits in communities
  • Train and monitor CHV’s on how to conduct hygiene promotion sessions and complete their log sheets properly documenting topics discussed, advice provided, issues of concern for IMC follow-up action, number of attendee’s sessions
  • Collect all CHV’s log sheets on monthly basis and certifying work done by CHV’s
  • Identify the most appropriate messages regarding the target population
  • Organize training sessions and participate in facilitation in IDP camps and host communities
  • Determine the necessary materials needed for each campaign/activity
  • Mobilize the community on behavior change related to hygiene practices
  • Participate in hygiene campaigns, drama shows in schools, community and IDP camps in close coordination with community volunteers
  • Actively participate with community volunteers in identifying locations/sites for WASH infrastructures (latrines construction/rehabilitation, borehole drilling/rehabilitation, etc.) in the beneficiary communities
  • Conduct focus group discussion, giving clear messages on good hygiene practices
  • Report the progress of the work to supervisor
  • Report challenges and successes during the activities, and any other issues that require IMC follow-up/action
  • Conduct household assessments
  • Oversees the distribution of water, hygiene and sanitation items
  • Collect water samples from households and water sources and conduct quality tests using the Del Aqua kit Record all result of water test
  • Complete daily reports on CHV’s evaluation, water testing and NFI distribution
  • Coordinate closely with CHV’s to identify informal settlements in host communities
  • Consult with M & E to providing accurate raw data for impact analysis during post distribution survey and also to provide input for monthly and quarterly WASH reports
  • Timely reporting of Hygiene Promotion activities to supervisor/WASH Officer
  • Provide support to other areas of the department as may be required by the supervisor

  • B.Sc or HND in Social Sciences, Sciences or any relevant technical qualification
  • At least two (2+) years experience with a non-profit, non-governmental organization or community development experience
  • Demonstrated skill in capacity building at community level
  • Experience in hygiene promotion, water quality monitoring, and community mobilization
  • Communicate skill in Hausa & Kanuri is an added advantage
  • Excellent experience with Microsoft Excel, Power Point, etc.
  • Strong skills with Microsoft Word
  • Excellent English writing written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions independently
  • Flexible and, able to cope with stressful situations
