Egbin Power Plc. Lagos is one of the biggest additions to the electricity industry in Nigeria. Often seen as the biggest single generating power station in Sub-Saharan Africa, it was built to meet the every rising demand for electricity in Lagos and its environs.

Following the nation’s privatization exercise, Sahara, through its power division, Sahara Power Group and sundry affiliations, acquired the 1320 MW installed capacity Egbin Power Plant. We are working towards deploying a minimum of 5,000 MW of electricity generation over the next five years.

Job Title: Quality Control Engineer

Location: Ikorodu, Lagos
Employment Type: Full time

Job Summary

  • Responsible for the quality of delivered materials in compliance with Purchase Order requirement and in good condition.
  • Ensure material documentation are sufficient and traceable to the physical item as well as applicable specification.

Job Responsibilities

  • Receiving of incoming materials and equipment documents in accordance with Purchase Order requirement.
  • Inspect Materials and equipment on arrival at the site in terms of quantities and conformity with specifications and technical drawings (Visual and Dimensional Inspection).
  • Checks received material for visible damages to the packing or goods.
  • Together with Requesting Department and Engineering, determining the scope and extent of inspection/testing depending on the critical purpose and end use of equipment.
  • Ensure that the material test certificates (MTC) for traceable materials are checked against the heat number, serial number, tag no., etc. marked on the material to confirm that (MTC) are available for all the materials received.
  • Ensuring Material markings and traceability are performed in accordance with procedure / specification.
  • Ensures segregation of Nonconforming Material, recording any losses or damage in a detailed report.
  • Issuing of Nonconformance reports.
  • Verify all Technical issues, Nonconformance are closed prior to the release of concerned items. Conduct Welders Qualification Tests, monitor welding process and inspect completed welds.
  • Perform plant equipment and facility inspection as required.
  • Ensure the storage and preservation of materials, are in accordance with the defined methods of classification, marking and traceability.
  • Review and approve documentations for Materials and Equipment, identify any problems and keep the internal interfaces (Requesting Department and Stores) and QA/QC Manager informed of any deviation.
  • Issuing material receiving reports to Stores and QA/QC department.
  • Ensure the appropriate tools and documents to perform inspection duties are available.
  • Participate in performance evaluation of suppliers.
  • Prepare quality reports and statistics.

Education and Work Experience

  • A degree in engineering or any related field
  • A minimum of Seven (7) years experience in a similar role
  • Certified Welding Inspector (CWI/CSWIP 3.1), Certified ISO 9001:2015 Internal Auditor will be an added advantage.

  • Wide range of administration skills including being organized and systematic
  • Strong IT skills, particularly with data entry and working with databases

Job Title: Internal Control Officer

Location: Ijede Ikorodu, Lagos

Job Summary

  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with company’s policies and procedures; monitoring compliance with the company’s internal controls, as well as detecting and reporting on internal control gaps.

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for ensuring protection of company’s assets, accuracy or records, promotion of operational efficiency and adherence to policies, rules, regulations and laws on a continuous basis.
  • Advise audit team lead/Head Internal Audit on internal control processes from time to time.
  • Assesses compliance by testing whether the stated controls are working as prescribed, consistently and continuously.
  • Reports breaches on internal control policies
  • Suggesting to the Audit Team lead / Head, Internal Audit relevant controls that would help in mitigating against identified risk or gap in the process flow.
  • Documenting and making reports of identified control issues discovered in the course of the vetting process and how they were resolved
  • Carry out regular review of company’s compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Carry out regular review of procurement quotations and budget control form
  • Conduct periodic inventory count and resolution of outstanding inventory issues
  • Conduct verification of replaced spares and tools
  • Carry out regular review of compliance with NCC dispatch tools
  • Conduct monthly cash count and fuel dip
  • Conduct periodic review of underwriting and claims operations and procedures

Education and Work Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or any relevant course
  • Relevant professional certification (e.g. CIA, ICAN, ACCA, etc).
  • Minimum of two (2) years relevant work experience.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Excellent understanding of the standards of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) and ability to fully comply with IIA standards
  • Strong skills in negotiating, relationship building, problem solving, and timely problem escalation.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong attention to details

Job Title: Inventory Management Supervisor

Location: Ikorodu, Lagos

Job Summary

  • To maintain accurate inventory and ensure that material resource requirements are available upon request to staff by efficiently storing and issuing these items as may be required.

Job Responsibilities

  • Receive and issue store items after ensuring proper and adequate documentation 
  • Create and maintain a catalogue of goods in stock, their description and location to facilitate easy retrieval
  • Determine inventory demand and maintain adequate inventory level at all times
  • Conduct regular stock inventory exercise noting materials that are out of stock and prepare periodic activity reports
  • Maintain accurate records of all activities and transactions
  • Prepare agreed activity and performance reports on a timely basis, for the attention of the Store Manager and other relevant parties
  • Ensure thorough inspection of received, stored & dispatched goods to avoid discrepancies
  • Develop unique strategies for and coordinate inspection of goods delivered to prevent discrepancies
  •  Identify visibly damaged stock on receipt and follow laid down policies in reporting / treating such
  • Obtain necessary sign offs on delivery documents from delivery personnel / suppliers as acknowledgement of receipt
  • Determine appropriate space and location for the receipt of stock 
  • Understand the nature of stock to be delivered, determine and prepare necessary conditions for smooth and speedy stock receipt
  • Provide regular reports / updates as required for management attention

  • Assist in evaluating the adequacy and effectiveness of the company’s internal controls and compliance with regulations in order to ensure continuous improvement of the overall business operations of Egbin Power Plc.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conducting ongoing reviews of all operational processes and procedures
  • Conducting evaluations of the company to assess risk and compliance with regulations in order to ensure continuous improvement of the overall business operations of Egbin Power Plc.
  • Assist in conducting risk assessments and identifies controls in place to mitigate identified risks
  • Reports breaches on internal control policies
  • Evaluate departmental risk registers review & follow up on action plans
  • Regular review of company’s compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Regular review of procurement quotations and budget control form
  • Periodic inventory count and resolution of outstanding inventory issues
  • Conduct verification of replaced spares and tools
  • Regular review of compliance with NCC dispatch tools
  • Periodic evaluation of cash count and fuel dip
  • Plans financial, regulatory, compliance and operational reviews/audits.
  • Partakes in audit procedures to verify that controls are in place 
  • Conducts validity test on effectiveness and efficiency of control environment.
  • Identifies control gaps and opportunities for improvement.
  • Researches for update on technical subjects required to support audits (e.g. Basel III, OSFI Guidelines, market risk, etc.)
  • Assist in preparing audit reports for management
  • Assess, evaluate and promote compliance to Egbin internal policies.

Education and Work Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or any relevant course 
  • Relevant professional certification (e.g. CIA, ICAN, ACCA, etc).
  • Minimum of three to five (3 -5) years relevant work experience (at least one year in Internal Audit role).

Skills and Competencies:

  • To ensure that technical material resource requirements are available upon request to staff by efficiently storing and issuing these items as may be required.

Job Responsibilities

  • Receive and issue technical store items after ensuring proper and adequate documentation.
  • Maintain a catalogue of goods in stock, their description and location to facilitate easy retrieval.
  • Forecast inventory demand and maintain adequate inventory level at all times
  • Periodic physical inspection of materials in store.
  • Maintenance of stores inventories to ensure they are in good condition.
  • Partner with relevant stakeholders to ensure the right preservant is applied to material.
  • Conduct regular stock inventory of technical materials that are out of stock and prepare periodic activity reports for Head Store.
  • Ensure thorough inspection of received, stored & dispatched goods to avoid discrepancies.
