Job Title: External Facilitator - Basic Emergency Obstetrics and Neonatal Care

Location: Borno

Job Description
Objectives:

  • To improve understanding of BEmONC
  • To improve Health Care provider’s skills on Management of common components of BEmONC

Methodology:

  • Practical demonstrations on manikins, power point presentation, a pretest and a post test, case study and practical sessions, participatory methods, and other exercises if need be.

Outcome
At the end of the training course, the participant will be able to:

  • Describe basic and comprehensive EmOC and the team approach to the provision of care in relation to reducing maternal mortality
  • Describe the ethical issues related to EmOC, including feeling a sense of urgency, accountability for one’s actions, respect for human life, and recognition and respect for the right of women to life, health, privacy and dignity
  • Use interpersonal communication techniques that facilitate the development of a caring and trusting relationship with the woman when providing EmOC
  • Use recommended IP practices for all aspects of EmOC
  • Describe the process of rapid initial assessment and management of a woman who presents with a problem .
  • Identify the presenting symptoms and signs of shock and describe immediate and specific management .
  • Describe the principles and procedure of blood transfusion, including recognition and management of transfusion reactions .
  • Perform adult resuscitation .
  • Identify the presenting symptoms and signs, determine the probable diagnosis and use simplified management protocols for vaginal bleeding in early and later pregnancy
  • Perform MVA for incomplete abortion
  • Identify the presenting symptoms and signs, determine the probable diagnosis and use simplified management protocols for pregnancy-induced hypertension
  • Identify and manage cord prolapse
  • Provide care during labour, childbirth and the postpartum period
  • Demonstrate use of the parthograph to monitor progress in labour, recognize unsatisfactory progress in a timely manner and respond appropriately.
  • Demonstrate clean and safe childbirth Management of the third stage of labour and examination of the placenta and birth canal after the birth
  • Perform and repair an episiotomy .
  • Identify and repair cervical tears .
  • Perform a breech delivery
  • Perform a vacuum extraction
  • Identify the presenting symptoms and signs, determine the probable diagnosis and use simplified management protocols for vaginal bleeding after childbirth
  • Perform bi-manual compression of the uterus
  • Perform abdominal aortic compression
  • Perform manual removal of the placenta
  • Identify the presenting symptoms and signs, determine the probable diagnosis and use simplified management protocols for fever during and after childbirth
  • Describe normal newborn care
  • Perform basic newborn resuscitation using a self-inflating bag and mask
  • Describe Anesthesia and pain management associated with obstetric emergencies
  • Describe pre- and post-operative care for women who require obstetric surgery
  • Perform a postpartum hysterectomy*
  • Describe the procedure for performing a craniotomy*
  • Describe the steps involved in setting up EmOC services and managing them on a day-to-day basis.

  • 10 days Training in two batches
  • 5 Days for batch A and 5 Days for batch B.

 

 

Job Title: External Facilitator - CMAM Training for Nutrition Staff and Health Worker

Location: Borno

Job Ref: CMAM Facilitator

General Objective

  • The key objective of a CMAM program is to reduce mortality and morbidity from acute malnutrition by providing timely diagnosis and effective treatment of acute malnutrition, and through building local capacity (health system and community) in the identification and management of acute malnutrition.so the essences for this training for our nutrition staff and health workers is to provide them with the knowledge of active case finding, proper treatment for Acute Severe Malnutrition (SAM), and strengthen the referral pathways with the clinics and stabilization centers (SCs).

Specific Objectives
These goals will be achieved by covering the following training courses:

  • Perform basic anthropometric measurements (MUAC, weight, height and oedema) for screening of Acute Malnutrition at the community and interpret the values
  • Explain the screening and admission procedures of patients with acute malnutrition.
  • Be familiar with admission, referral, and discharge criteria to and from OTP/MAM program.
  • Be able to organize a health center or family health unit set up for out-patient treatment of SAM and MAM.
  • Be able to manage and follow up children with SAM using the OTP operation guideline.

  • The training is to enable MDM staffs to provide more quality service to our beneficiaries and impact positive BCC.

Job Title: External Facilitator - Activity Lead Mothers Training for Mothers to Mother Supoort Groups

Location: Borno

Job Ref: LEAD MOTHERS TRAINIG FACILITATOR

General Objective

  • The general objective of the training is to promote the national policies and recommended IYCF and Care practices for child survival, child growth, child development and child protection along the continuum of MDM medical care and community engagement.
  • This training will help MdM advance in providing optimal IYCF counseling at the door steps of beneficiaries and it will strengthen the community mobilization sensitization approach.

Specific Objectives:

  • These goals will be achieved by covering the following training courses: -
  • Early initiation of breastfeeding and its importance
  • Exclusive breastfeeding in the first 6 months
  • Breastfeeding attachment and positions
  • Initiation of complementary feeding at the start of 6 months
  • Complementary feeding practice for 6-8m,9-12m, and 13-23m old children
  • Feeding care practices for sick infants and children
  • Good hygiene practices
  • Training and engaging mothers on mother-MUAC approach in detecting SAM

Techniques:

  • Group discussions, brainstorming and practical by using cooking demonstration

Job Title: External Facilitator- Activity IYCF And Care Practices Training For Nutrition Staff And Health Workers

Specific Objectives

These goals will be achieved by covering the following training courses:

  • Breastfeeding activities: Promotion of early initiation of breastfeeding, exclusive breastfeeding, scientific benefits of BF and promoting positive behaviors of BF
  • Exclusive breastfeeding in the first 6 months Complementary feeding activities: Understanding and promoting the guiding principles of CF and responsive feeding via psychosocial care, promoting minimum dietary diversity and minimum acceptable diet in the community.
  • Promoting good hygiene practices and safe food handling.
  • Promoting feeding care practices for sick infants and children.
  • Long-term benefits of optimal IYCF: child survival, growth, development and good maternal nutrition.
  • IYCF in special circumstances: infants with low birth weight, infants in emergency situations, re-lactation techniques for infants,
