For 40 years, the humanitarian and development organization has been on the front lines, treating and preventing hunger across nearly 50 countries. It served more than 21 million people in 2018 alone.
We are recruiting to fill the position below:
   
Job Title: Health Assistant Location: Damasak, Borno Job Type: Full Time Starting date: As Soon As Possible Direct Line Manager: Health Officer
Objective 1
  • Facilitate the Capacity building of the MoH’s staff in State and LGA levels on CMAM and IMNCI
Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Assist the health officer and respective hospital authorities, conduct training needs assessment for the PHC staff in the respective health facilities on the CMAM and IMNCI.
  • Facilitate and organize training on CMAM and IMNCI for the relevant Health Workers (HWs) based on the findings from the training assessment.
  • Ensure that all data related to health are collected weekly /monthly and submitted to health officers and State authority.
  • Make regular visits to all AAH health and CMAM outreaches and provide a report to Health Officer.
Objective 2
  • To strengthen links and coordination between different departments and authorities i.e. partners, LGAs, SMOH, and Hospitals.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with the health facility staff and community leaders to establish a strong referral linkage between health facilities and hospitals for malnourished children.
  • Work in close collaboration with community leaders, CVs, and other relevant stakeholders to organize monthly health committee meetings and feedback.
  • Assist the health officer to ensure good working relationship between the HWs in health facilities and hospitals.
  • Assist the health Officer to prepare and organize regular coordination meetings with SNO, relevant hospital authorities and HWs on the issue of CMAM In-Patient management.
  • Work closely with the HWs in hospitals and OTP sites as well as CVs for an effective follow up of children discharged from the hospitals to the health facilities for better continuation of the CMAM treatment.
Objective 3
  • To conduct regular monitoring and supervision in the respective hospitals in order to ensure the quality of the CMAM In-Patient services.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct regular monitoring and supervision visits to all Action Against Hunger supported Clinics and CMAM outreaches to ensure good quality of services.
  • Follow up with HWs at the respective Clinics and OTPs to ensure the staff sends the stock reports (medicine and therapeutic products) to the respective authorities at monthly basis.
  • Assist health officers and HWs at the respective Clinics and OTPs, conduct physical counts and verify the availability of the medicine and therapeutic products in each hospital on a monthly basis.
Position Requirements Qualifications:
  • Diploma in Science with a major in Nursing, Community Health or Nutrition.
  • 1-year experience in inpatient nutritional treatment essential, IMNCI and CMAM approach.
Skills & Experience Essential:
  • Previous experiences on CMAM programming.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Transparency and adherence to medical codes of conduct and patient, confidentiality and child protection.
  • Commitment to Action Against Hunger values and principles.
  • Able to network effectively with llocal representatives of international aid organizations for exchange of information.
  • High level of self-discipline, time management, organization, self-motivated and able to work with little day to day supervisions but meet deadlines and program objectives.
Preferred:
  • Experienced in working in Northern Nigeria and well integrated into local community.
  • Fluency in Hausa, Kanuri and English.
  • Previous experience with Action Against Hunger.
  • Previous humanitarian programming experience.
  • Good knowledge of the intervention area/s and local economy.
Minimum Basic Salary NGN156, 995 per Month.
