Health and Safety Officer at Tincan Island Container Terminal

Tincan Island Container Terminal Limited (TICT), established in 2004, is a multinational company operating in Nigeria with its Terminal located at Tin-can Island Port, Terminal B (2nd Gate), Apapa, Lagos and has its Head Office at 1/3 Point Road, Apapa, Lagos.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

 

 

Job Title: Health and Safety Officer

Location: Apapa, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Purpose and Main Mission

  • Reporting to a Safety Supervisor, the Safety Officer is responsible for operational Health, Safety & Environment activities within the assigned shift.
  • The incumbent will be required to monitor and detect risks, collect evidence and report findings that ensure the effectiveness of implemented HSE framework.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Ensure awareness of safety rules and regulations.
  • Patrolling and monitoring safety work in the terminal.
  • Detect hidden dangers and safety violations in operation and correct them.
  • Improve staff’s safety awareness on site.
  • Monitoring the DG containers stacked as planned.
  • Prepare a written daily report for his shift supervisor.
  • The firefighting equipment daily inspection.
  • Daily Violation Reports
  • Assist HSE to team on operational safety-related activities
  • Ensure safety inspections regarding Port facilities and equipment.
  • Assist the team to report and record all evidence.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards in the workplace.
  • Display occurred accident pictures in order to better heighten awareness of the risk.
  • Undertake any other duty as assigned by the line manager.

Requirements

  • Minimum of OND (Bachelor’s Degree preferable) in any Science / Engineering related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years relevant experience in Health Safety & Environment
  • Must be physically fit and agile.
  • Relevant Certification in HSE with strong knowledge of safety standards
  • Knowledge and experience in relevant operational and non-operational processes
