Job Title: General Manager - Human Resources
Location: Port- Harcourt, Rivers
Job Summary
- The General Manager- Human Resources (GMHR) will be a key player in helping the organization to meet its aggressive growth, profit and expansion plans through the provision of HR excellence.
- Key aspects to the role will be providing HR strategic advisory services as well as a range of operational HR services and solutions to support the business.
- Reporting to the CEO, you will head the human resources function and act as an integral part of the senior management team. You will be responsible for the full spectrum of HR duties for a large group with business in diverse sectors across multiple locations.
- Specifically you will develop and enhance existing practices across areas such as recruitment, training and development, compensation and benefits, employee relations, as well as HR policies in line with the forecast growth of the business
- You will be managing a team of HR staff who together will be planning, developing, implementing and directing policies and programs covering employment, compensation & benefits, employee relations, and compliance with all applicable laws.
Qualifications, Ability and Skills
- Bachelor Degree in any related field, a higher degree is an added advantage
- CIPD, CIPM, SHRM or comparable professional human resources designation required.
- Candidate must be a senior and experienced HR practitioner, ideally with 10+ years’ experience with a stable tenure in their employment track.
- Demonstrated experience in building an HR function with a focus on building a high impact learning culture, driven by performance.
- Continually seeking to be innovative and effective
- Effectively plans ahead to anticipate problems, plans for worst-case and best-case scenarios
- Makes sensible, intelligent decisions in difficult and deadline driven situations
- Excellent attention to details
- Demonstrates passion - approaches all tasks in an enthusiastic way. Committed to upholding professional standards
- Creating and/or leading in a HR function that supports offices and staffing in multiple divisions and locations.
- Strong leadership skills and possess the analytical and creative skills to understand issues and develop creative solutions.
- There are lots of developments occurring within the business, therefore, candidate must have proven ability to adapt to a changing environment, and also champion process improvement;
- Takes responsibility for own actions and visibly supports the senior leadership team and their agenda
- Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education
General Conditions of the Job
- This role is based in Port-Harcourt with requirement to travel occasionally as the role is expected to provide leadership to the group team across various locations and roll out HR initiatives
